Understandable, but when 10/30 comes, they’d better give that 1st up.

Let’s just lay it out there in simple terms:

Player A: 2019 first round draft choice, let’s say he’s pick 28 after the Chiefs have lost a playoff game (just a random guess).

Player B: Earl Thomas with a 4-year contract extension

Which guy is going to give you the best chance to win the championship with a roster that’s locked and loaded right now? It’s not even a debate.

If that pick even turns out to be a good player, he still likely won’t give you Earl’s production for the next several years.

Spent the last year and a half talking about how we needed to take advantage of Mahomes’ rookie deal. This move is a prime example of that.

Also you get a player in his prime at a position of need for say 4-5 years. That player is also top 2 at his position. Yeah you'll pay him alot, but it's worth it. Even if you draft a guy thats a stud you'll have him 5 years cheap but if he is the best at his position then you'll be paying him alot more than you're paying ET. Safety is position that is easier to play at a high level when you get older, so ET should be still be playing fairly well at the end of his contract.

This 100%

Wishful thinking, along the same lines as Berry playing in the Broncos game.
