Direckshun's 5 Best Players Still On The Board

1. DT Kentwan Balmer
2. CB Brandon Flowers
3. DE/OLB Quentin Groves
4. LB Dan Connor
5. OT Carl Nicks

Wow Dan Connor was number 18 on my personal draft board. I cant belive he is still available.

Sfeihc 03-10-2008 04:27 AM

Connor should go off the board here to the NYG. They have to replace Kawika and Reggie Torbor.

The NY Giants take Dan Connor.

No-brainer pick here. Dan Connor could either be used to replace Mathias Kiwanuka on the strongside which would allow him to move back to DE which is his more natural position. That would be more likely if Michael Strahan retires, but if he comes back they would most likely use him to replace Kawika Mitchell. With his versatility he could eventually take over for Antonio Pierce in the middle.

Reggie Smith was 2nd on my board, the Giants will love his versatility and could use him at corner or safety.

I would have gone with Groves if I knew Strahan was retiring, because I believe Groves will be the better pass rusher than Kiwanuka.

But I guess I don't know that either way. Connor's a good pick.

He has hinted toward coming back.

*And you may have a valid point, but even so Connor is an upgrade at LB over Kiwanuka. So you'd be replacing and upgrading a position instead of just replacing.

Now if you just threw the jinx on the Chiefs and they select Owen Schmitt in the second, I will hunt you.

I'm wouldnt be for the trade down in all situations. Its rare you get to pick a top 5 talent. But if Both Longs, Ellis, and Dorsey (though DT is not our greatest need among so many) are all gone , why not fill our numerous holes with 2 first round picks in a draft that is deep at our positions of greatest need?

I think in that case I take McFadden and trade LJ for a stick of Juicy Fruit.

At least make it Beeman's. Don't settle.

melbar 03-10-2008 01:10 PM

If someone would take LJ and his attitude for a high 1st and we could take McFadden, I'd say go for it.

Sfeihc 03-10-2008 01:13 PM

Why would anyone give a ( R U ) high(?) first for a dude with a broke foot and coming off a record setting # of carries the year prior?
LJ's greatest value is to the Chiefs, CP made it so when he showed LJ the $$$.

Sorry I missed the pick, I've been checking in - my time here hasn't been the same since I met the gusher.
