Somehow Wolf is somehow quietly been an effective pitcher despite not have a lot going for him as far as his stuff.

Carp really needs to sharpen up tonight. Him getting knocked around is not what I expected to watch.

Freese will be fine.

I wouldn't trade Freese for Rolen and Rolen's contract right now. Rolen's defense is a little overrated at this point and his bat looks better than it is because he's in Cincy. His swing has gotten incredibly long.

Freese is better than this, he's just fighting the ball right now. Even his minor league track record pointed to a guy with a plus glove and that will translate to the major league level fairly faithfully.

Give Freese some time - you'll like the guy by mid-summer, IMO.

I like Wolf a lot.

But he's exactly the kind of guy that Holliday should hit. Holliday struggles with hard stuff because his swing requires him to get his arms extended. He has a little bit of a loop in it and that leg kick takes some time.

With junky lefties, Holliday should be able to crush them. They'll tend to stay away from the RH hitter and they won't have the hard stuff to tie him up. If there's anyone in baseball he should hit well, it's Randy Wolf. Instead he tends to take very tentative ABs and come up with some pretty epic fails.

He gave up a long HR on a dead-center cockshot 'fastball' the proceeded to give up at least 2 more hard hit balls in the inning, including a ball the Fielder absolutely crushed.

Carpenter was just awful today. He got victimized by bad D, but he wasn't pitching worth a damn either.

If only he could play at the K more often..........
