My point is maybe this roster isn't as talented as you think.

So where does the roster need upgrading?

Sorry, but just trying to stir up some football talk instead of pissing matches.

I don't know.

We play a lot of good teams this year so we might have holes we don't even know about.

Stanford Routt might be the second coming of William Bartee this year.

EVERYONE on here thought we would slobberknock the Bills before Week 1 last season. Including me.

How'd that work out? I've learned to lower my expectations with this regime.

Yes, i'd pay Bowe that.

And in 20/20 hindsight? I'd throw a shit ton of draft picks at the Panthers last year and take Cam.

That's great. Would you have done it draft day without hindsight?

We lose who?

Jonathan Baldwin
Rodney Hudson
Justin Houston
Allen Bailey
Poe
2013 #1

Still take him on draft day without hindsight?

I like Pioli's strategy, pick good players at good value, and eventually you will have a roster stocked with talent, manageable for the future and at a good price.

When you believe the guy is there, you make a move for a franchise QB. In the draft, b/c volume of picks isn't nearly as important when the shelf is stocked, you can afford to make a move without hurting the team. Or in FA b/c you have the money to outbid anyone.

Now your young QB has a HUGE leg up to succeed. A bad start can ruin a young talented QB. If he's the guy, your team now has a 10-15 year window, as opposed to wasting the first 3-5 years of his career trying to build a team around him, or ruining his confidence altogether.

I think the point being made is that most of the roster has question marks. It has a lot of talent, but that talent is unproven. 5 games or 1 year doesn't make a career.

We're in "wait and see" mode on a lot of guys that some fans have already (very optimistically) chalked up as impact players.

People seem to be taking for granted the fact that not every player lives up to his potential, or that draftniks aren't always right.

People are just setting themselves up for disappointment, because it's highly unlikely that all these young guys pan out, much less become "impact players."

First off, we don't know about Poe yet, so I'll wait on that one.

Second off, the other two........well yea those are right

Yeah, likely you would still have your third rounders so you would still get houston.

But yea, I'd give up those guys to have Newton. You'd be ahead of where you are right now.

So, how many years does a player have to produce to be proven then?

True.

As for the Bills, EVERYONE underestimated them, while over estimating Cassel. Fact is, we underestimated their roster, which is pretty similar to ours talent wise, with, the better QB.

O.city 07-17-2012 07:16 PM

I still don't know what the hell happened week 1 and 2 last year. You don't get blown out that bad in the NFL without being pretty unprepared and shitty. I don't think we were that shitty, but who knows.

Hammock Parties 07-17-2012 07:16 PM

We underestimated their 6-10 roster?

The same thing that happened in Week 9 and 10 against Miami and Denver.

The Matt Cassel effect can strike at any time.

O.city 07-17-2012 07:18 PM

Didn't the Bills start off with a bang, blow their wad and peter out?

So do Houston, Bailey, Lewis, Hudson, Allen, Gray, Moeaki, Stanzi, Asamoah, Belcher, and many quality backups.
