Tommy Kelly on Kevin Kolb: “That boy’s scared”

Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb found it difficult to do much on Friday night to make his case for the starting job. After all, it’s hard to throw when being constantly harassed by the Raiders defense.

In the end, Kolb had as many sacks as completions: three.

After a crunching collision between multiple Raiders and Kolb behind the line of scrimmage early in the second quarter, defensive lineman Tommy Kelly said as he made it to the sideline, “That boy’s scared,” according to the Raiders TV broadcast being streamed through NFL.com’s Preseason Live package.

Kolb completed three of six passes for 22 yards, leading the Cardinals on a seven-play, 41-yard touchdown drive. Kolb’s other scoring drive came via a field goal scored after an interception return by Kerry Rhodes put the ball deep in Oakland territory. Arizona lost nine yards in three plays before the kick.

It seems like it’s only a matter of time before Kolb loses his starting job.

Kolb has been used on CP as proof that Pioli is an idiot.

I have been soured on Pioli but as time goes on he is looking more and more right.

We still need a QB though.

We know what that feels like and it doesn't lead to good things.

Raiders going into the half with three field goals and one safety.

No. Not until we actually win something.

In the end I believe he'll look absolutely stupid for passing on Josh Freeman, and ignoring Kyle Orton as a convenient stopgap.

Cassel should have been dumped after last season. A smart GM would have recognized that.

Josh Freeman is the same as Cassel.

Josh Freeman will be your barometer?

Enough said.

And once again, nice edit. You work for FOX News on the side?

Apart from the whole having actual talent and untapped potential part, sure.

At his best Josh Freeman is a guy who can throw it down the field with the best of them and carry a team on his back when the chips are down (what he did in 2010).

So not remotely similar to Cassel....no.
