I've been 'eh' about Flowers for quite awhile. He is often injured, has terrible size, stopped being aggressive in the running game two years ago and never regained his speed after the foot injury he suffered.

4.55 speed, never had much to begin with. 30" vert also. What he really had going for him was his competitiveness and short area quickness.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see Sean Smith cut next. What a bonehead. With the lack of depth he will probably be safe though until next year unless Chiefs bring someone in before camp.

They will not cut Smith. He was the best and most consistent corner on the team last year. He's also nowhere near as expensive as Flowers was.

Yuck. I'm not okay with this. I think Flowers was a target to be cut next year, but we got a lot weaker at CB and I don't feel that confident in Parker or Gaines or Owens to backfill nearly as well. I don't at all understand why we didn't get trade value out of him.

But oh well… I don't think we were going to compete this year anyway, and Flowers was a target for a massive pay cut soon anyway, so it's not the end of the world. Him being a nickel corner given fit with Sutton's scheme, he was definitely overpaid.

Plus, even if we didn't get trade comp… Albert and Flowers are both probably going to get us a 3rd round comp pick. So we did essentially get draft picks out of them.
