No they still pay him but you get "salary cap relief" when a dude doesn't play, like if Watson sits on IR till like week 12 next year the Browns will get like 60 million dollars of cap relief, I have to look it up to see the actual numbers.

I also don't buy they are 3 years away, they overall have a good roster, they are in a good spot to drop in a rookie QB.

Unless Watson retires, they can't get out from that deal.

IIRC, they have a portion of it insured, so they could get some relief on it.

They get 13.9 for this year but basically his entire salary for next year is insured so they would get relief for the entire thing...he's actually cutable in 26.
