I'd rather have Traylor out on the court than Young.

On ESPN News

DJay23 12-15-2012 06:16 PM

Well shit if we aren't giving up those 3 point shots, they just aren't falling for them...yet.

Chiefs Pantalones 12-15-2012 06:16 PM

I dont see why they couldnt switch to espnews nationwide in these situations. Seriously, who even watches espnews? If people want immediate news, highlights, they look online.

Its great knowing you are missing an entire half of a game while a channel is wasted by looping highlights over and over.

They did switch to espnnews. It was on there from the beginning up until the end of the minor league high school bowl game.

jfc Ellis use the ****ing glass

CoMoChief 12-15-2012 07:36 PM

Ellis made up for it w/ a nice pass.

DJay23 12-15-2012 07:42 PM

Oh I love seeing White get his stroke down.

That was a nice showtime dunk by Releford!

I'm so thankful we don't have to watch the walk-ons play very much. It's just so painful to watch.

Mr. Laz 12-15-2012 08:23 PM

when we shoot well from outside we are an NC contender/dominant type team

Chiefs Pantalones 12-15-2012 08:48 PM

Loved the way we played, but we gave them a lot of wide open looks that they normally make. We gotta play better perimeter defense.

We are on our way though that's for sure.

ROYC75 12-15-2012 09:06 PM

We play like this each night it's going to be a fun ride into March.

3 pt shooting was awesome, good to see Adams find his stroke.

KC_Connection 12-15-2012 09:38 PM

Didn't expect that kind of beatdown. Belmont just missed everything.

McLemore is so damn good.

Teams seem to have had that problem against KU in the 10 years under Bill Self.

ChiefMojo 12-15-2012 11:15 PM

I think KU is finally starting to click and the scary thing is the team as a whole is still trying to find themselves as a collective unit. They are starting to roll quality teams.

Chiefs Pantalones 12-15-2012 11:18 PM

After watching Arizona and Florida play they are good but we could beat both of them even if we didn't play our best. The rest of the top ten don't really scare me either.

Buehler445 12-16-2012 12:39 AM

Really impressed with the effort tonight. I really didn't expect it. Hopefully they are coming together and putting together good halves consistently.

This team gets to it's potential it is going to be sick.

Buddy texted me that McLemore is the best player he's seen in a KU uniform since Pierce.

Whether or not that is true is arguable, but the fact that it is worth discussing in December of his Freshman year is pretty profound.

Buehler445 12-16-2012 12:40 AM

So, are the draft sites projecting Releford to be drafted? At the beginning of the season I would think not, but he's playing some really good basketball.

if he keeps playing like he is now he will move up into the 2nd round imo.

He need to handle the ball better and stop missing layups before he will be considered for the 1st round. Imo.

Ceej 12-16-2012 09:31 AM

I don't see Releford getting drafted.

the Talking Can 12-16-2012 09:34 AM

and we aren't getting anything from ellis yet...

i love how self takes a different group every year and has them playing lock down defense and unselfish offense by christmas...you can't pay self enough money

i never thought releford would make it in the nba, but then guys like chris duhon find a way...so maybe

the confidence releford has right now is impressive

CoMoChief 12-16-2012 09:37 AM

Self is making around $15k/day. LMAO

I dont know what I'd do with that kind of money. I wish I could wake up...sit on the shitter drinking coffee, knowing I'm going to make $15k that day, and the next day, and the next.

CoMoChief 12-16-2012 09:42 AM

I wonder in 10 years, if Self will go down as the most successful coach in Kansas history....that's saying A LOT...but it's possible.

ChiefMojo 12-16-2012 10:11 AM

There is a very strong possibility he will. That is pretty amazing to say with the likes of Phog Allen, Larry Brown and Roy Williams. In reality he is on equal ground in many ways with those guys now.

Chief_For_Life58 12-16-2012 10:22 AM

bill keeps this winning style up for another 10+ years (lol its very possible) and hes got a shot at retiring with most wins in d1 ahead of coach k. itll be close but its possible the way self is winning and his age. hes gets close hes definitely best ku hc ever

Fair enough. But he also has size which the NBA loves.

I just think Travis is an average ball handler, ok at times shooter, and a pretty good defender (which is a pretty moot point in the NBA).

I want the guy to be drafted. In my opinion, I think it is unlikely.

I dont see him as an NBA player at all. He's done an amazing job of transitioning from undersized forward to wing, but he doesnt have a specific skill that will get him a spot on the bench in the league. He can make open 3s, but isnt a sharpshooter. He can defend, but isnt Bruce Bowen. He is the "old man in the gym" compared to college guys, but that doesnt work at the next level.

I love him as a super glue guy, but he wont sniff the NBA (IMHO). More of a Europe guy.

Bambi 12-17-2012 06:59 AM

Love watching these guys when everybody is cruising. Really surprised just how good Withey has got...even better than last year. Being ranked #9 won't last long.

Saturday should be fun.

I haven't looked at any NBA draft sites, but I could see him being drafted. He's got the length for it. Also, his shot is very smooth. I can't figure out why it isn't more consistent. There's something about his stroke, and I can't put my finger on it, but you can tell if it's going in the instant it leaves his hand.

Fansy the Famous Bard 12-17-2012 09:48 AM

2 things about Relefords shooting that won't translate well to the NBA: 1. it's a set shot... he doesn't get lift off the floor. 2. It's very long and takes time to get off.

It's his head. If he's confident, it's money. If he aims it, Doink!

I know dick about NBA, but the way he is finishing around the rim, I thought he might have a shot.

I hope he does. He seems like a decent enough kid and has done an awful lot for KU. Hopefully he can glean a few million off of the NBA, and do well for himself.

I think it is 207 or 208. It's right around all of the ESPNs.

EDIT: I think the abbreviation for it is ESN

Lzen 12-17-2012 12:11 PM

Also, I finally just looked up ESPN 360 on the laptop. But its BS that I had to do that. Why did the channel that the KU game was supposed to be on have a DII football game on so late? They didn't switch over to the KU game until almost the ENTIRE first half was over. That is unacceptable. Somebody in the scheduling department needs to get their crap together.

Releford was never considered to be a great shooter during his recruiting. He was slapped with the "great scorer" label early on.

Really fun game to watch tonight. Looking much better than #9 right now, but we'll see on Saturday.

sedated 12-18-2012 10:05 PM

Over the last month KU appears to have 2 first team all-americans, a supporting cast of senior (super) glue guys, and a bench full of talented freshmen. All lead by one of the best coaching staffs in the country. We just faced 3 straight good (not great, but good) teams and obliterated all of them. Saturday cant get here fast enough. My boner is holding up my ipad right now.

Ceej 12-18-2012 10:13 PM

It'll be interesting to see if B-Mac can maintain this level of consistency.

As of right now they've exceeded my expectations.

Big game this Saturday though.

Actually, I think BMac has an even higher ceiling, so I'm looking to see him have some truly outstanding games with this level being his baseline. Travis is the one I'm interested to see if he can maintain his present level consistently. He's playing at his peak right now, I hope he can bring it every game.

Bambi 12-18-2012 10:56 PM

I snicker whenever I see the "#9" next to their name.

Prison Bitch 12-19-2012 12:47 AM

I know TV put the game time at 6pm not us, but that time frame is tough on fans for a midweek game. I left my house at 4:50pm and finally got in at the 12-minute break first half. took me almost thirty minutes from when I hit Lawrence to get thru town and park and walk up. That's horrible planning. The city needs to do something about traffic problems these games create. Man it sucked

I wasn't referring to his potential.

I was referring to his consistency. All young players have droughts. It is a good thing he's good at attacking the rim. Im just curious how he and the team will approach or adapt when his shots aren't falling.

OSU is gonna be looking for some revenge. We gotta either handle their first blow, or we do the punching coming out of the gate instead. I'd be so proud of them if they were the ones coming out fast instead. It's gonna be interesting to see how the young guys respond.

excessive 12-22-2012 08:22 AM

Betting line I just looked at has Kansas +5, so I'm thinking about putting some money down.

Unknowns: how team will respond to its first true road game, how the offense will respond to a big time defense, and how young players will respond to the national spotlight.

I think our defense will be there, so look for a close game.

Bambi 12-22-2012 08:52 AM

This is why cbb is so great. You can lose early to a top notch opponent, then get on an increible roll and then all of a sudden you're back with a huge game 3-4 weeks later.

Can't wait for tip. Should be a stellar matchup.
