Austin Dillon won the pole for Friday night's Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway (7:15 PM ET, FOX Sports 1).

The Sprint Cup Series rookie posted a fastest lap of 194.616 mph to take the top spot.

AJ Allmendinger (194.098 mph), who won the pole for the 2012 Sprint Showdown, will join Dillon on the front row.

Rookie Kyle Larson (194.014 mph) and Clint Bowyer (193.826 mph) will comprise Row 2, while Marcos Ambrose (193.625 mph) and Paul Menard (193.126 mph) will make up Row 3. Danica Patrick (192.795 mph) and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (192.623 mph) will make up Row 4.

Qualifying for the Sprint Showdown consisted of single-car runs with drivers taking two laps around the 1.5-mile track.

The Sprint Showdown consists of two 20 lap segments with an optional pit stop in between the two segments. The top two finishers in the Sprint Showdown will advance to Saturday night's Sprint All-Star Race (9:10 p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1).

Kyle being a little too aggressive there.

Dylan 05-17-2014 08:17 PM

This is the 5's to lose.

Dylan 05-17-2014 08:46 PM

McMurray Keselowski Johnson KuBusch took 2 tires, then Harvick and Kahne with 4 apiece

Wow....Gordon & Biff into the wall...

Gordon's car goes up in flames...NASCAR has to do something about why their cars catch on fire.

I'm glad Jeff is okay

"something broke - either a tire or something in the suspension," Gordon said.

Dylan 05-17-2014 08:55 PM

Kahne and Harvick are fast

Kahne might have lost a $1 million scraping the wall

chefsos 05-18-2014 10:06 AM

The yellow walls really make the place stand out, especially at night. I think other tracks should use a unique color on their walls.

Dover, for example, had to paint a black strip on the bottom of the wall when they went to concrete so the drivers could tell where the surface ended and the wall began. I've always thought the entire wall should be black.

In58men 05-18-2014 10:34 AM

The biggest racing weekend of the year!

Let's begin with Formula 1 Sunday, May 25 - 7:30 a.m. ET -- Monaco Grand Prix - Race (NBC)

Monte Carlo is a favorite and one of the most dangerous tracks on the circuit. There are a couple of places where you can overtake a car, Nouvelle Chicane or into Ste Devote, because the track is so narrow. My pick to win the Monaco Grand Prix - Lewis Hamilton / Nico Rosberg. Mercedes race cars are untouchable this season.
Quote:

The race is considered as a 'must win' race for drivers, a combination of being technically difficult but also extremely glamorous and high profile. The circuit is one of the most demanding with no margin for error as the Armco barriers that line the track are at some points just inches from the cars."
Watch 2013 Monaco Grand Prix highlights: Winner, Nico Rosberg. Very scary track. In F1, the key elements to a driver's skill is in the corners (cornering).

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/JZ_Tyy807L0?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Amazing video!

Dylan 05-25-2014 06:03 AM

Live on NBC: Formula 1

Fireworks are about to begin between teammates Nico Rosberg and (foot in mouth) Lewis Hamilton - will Hamilton crash out his teammate on the first turn?

Edit: OMG crash!

Crane is about to lift the car off the track...

Hamilton is trying to chase down his hated teammate to punt him out of the race due to a fight with Nico during qualifying on Sat.

First lead car during the start of the race wins the race in Monaco - The only driver not to have led and won in the history of F1 was Hamilton in 2008...

Let's go Nico!

Edit: Hamilton is close - one slip by Nico and Hamilton will be right there to nail him...

Monaco looks gorgeous - It is the only street racing track on F1 circuit

R8RFAN 05-25-2014 06:25 AM

Morning Dylan

Dylan 05-25-2014 06:33 AM

Good Morning! If you can, turn on NBC!

There is a global fight between British fans and the rest of the F1 world fans over remarks made by Hamilton (U.K) and Rosberg (Germany) that Hamilton had made about his teammate Rosberg...

Four-time F1 World Champ -Sebastian Vettel - Red Bull might be out of the race - wow

Edit: Oh Lord, there is a piece of salvage on the track (debris in NASCAR lingo) on the track.

Not sure who's car was damaged - Out comes the safety car.

Edit: Red Bull have confirmed it was a power unit problem for Vettel.

They will...Unless they make a mistake.

The sport switched this year to turbo hybrid engines, and no other F1 car manufacturer has the brake horse power to compete against Mercedes.

After the race, I will post what has been going on between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton - the DRAMA!

Edit: I hope Alonso catches Hamilton. The only way the other cars have power is in turning to possibly catch Mercedes.

Dinny Bossa Nova 05-25-2014 06:52 AM

I must say, one of those Mercedes pace cars would look positively fabulous on me.

Dinny

Dylan 05-25-2014 06:54 AM

^ LMAO

Less than a second separates Rosberg and Hamilton - sigh -

Hamilton is waiting to pounce - hope he pounces into a soft wall barrier.

Dylan 05-25-2014 06:57 AM

The Marussia race cars are manufactured in Russia. Drivers: Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton

Putin must be glued to the race...LOL

Edit: Dinny, look at those beautiful yachts in the background...

Dylan 05-25-2014 07:37 AM

double yellow flags at Rascasse as Gutierrez hits the barrier, causing a tire puncture. The Mexican spins round in his Sauber and he is out of the race.

Is something wrong with Hamilton's car? He has something in his eye! The hell with him!

Edit: 8 laps to go.

It is so easy to make a mistake towards the end of this race.

I hope Ricciardo (Red Bull) gets the chance to overtake Hamilton - Hamilton has trouble with his vision!

Edit: They are lapping cars - and so many drivers dislike Hamilton

Dylan 05-25-2014 07:54 AM

Yes! Nico wins with back-to-back victories in Monaco!

Only the second time that's been done in 20 years!

Hamilton 2nd

Ricciardo 3rd
