Chiefs Pantalones 02-08-2014 10:37 PM

Wonder what that guy said to make Smart snap. Looked like he apologized out of fear right before Marcus pushed him.

In any case, OSU is a shell of what they were at the start of the season. Smart played a fantastic game today and they still couldn't get it done. With that 6 man rotation they're running, they'll be lucky to make the tournament at the rate they're going.

CoMoChief 02-08-2014 10:46 PM

Have to think he'll be suspended at least a few for this (regardless of what that fan said to him). Texas and OU are going to catch a break this week.

Going after a 50+ yr old fan? The guy acts like a ****ing child. He's a sore loser and a coward. I don't give a shit about what the guy's NBA dreams are to be quite honest. So he's going to make millions playing a game. Big deal. He's still a shithead.

Reerun_KC 02-08-2014 11:03 PM

Ford has no control ovet that team let alone a set of ballz. Big 12 will have to step in and discipline smart.

TLO 02-08-2014 11:04 PM

OSU is imploding, (has imploded).

Smart should be suspended for at least 3 games, maybe more. I can't remember an incident like this happening in college basketball before.

TLO 02-08-2014 11:06 PM

Travis Ford doing his post game press conference... saying he didn't see Smart push the fan, needs to see the video to see what happened. He looks somewhat shaken up.

Bambi 02-08-2014 11:06 PM

Nah, he just hates losing quite a bit. It's not the worst thing in the world for a high level athlete to be.

Also apparently hates being called whatever the guy called him.

Whether he's a shithead or not (neither of us will ever know him personally), I think it's safe to say he's definitely not a bitch considering where he's come from and where he's going.

Sure, if you're going to be a professional athlete, you have to have more self control than that.

But he's dealt with a lot of shit before during these games from fans and never reacted like that. The fact that he did this time really does make me wonder what was said.

Some people have different breaking points based on past experience. Can't really judge something like this fully without knowing what was said.

He's obviously going to be suspended regardless, though.

That it still doesn't matter. Are we saying a five star blue collar athlete who's not been told he can't so things probably since he was in 8th grade has had such a rough life that this is ok?

But a player putting his hands on a fan for any reason (court storming notwithstanding) is bad on the player no matter his past.

I don't think you're a psycho, that was sarcasm. It sounded like something a serial killer in a movie would say. But yeah, if SNR comes after me with a baseball bat threatening to kill me... yeah then maybe violence is okay. His track record this season when things aren't going his way aren't exactly showing him in a positive light.

Other players are frustrated. Other players hear fans talk. They don't go into the stands and put their hands on them.

He's a great player that's for sure. But he's putting together a portfolio that's starting to show he's not as mature as once thought and that his emotions control him.

Didn't say it was OK. You can't just go around shoving opposing fans for saying derogatory shit or you'll never be able to get through a few minutes without getting an ejection. But if this asshole says what we all think he said, he probably had that shove coming.

Pretty close

On November 19, 2004, Artest was at the center of an altercation among players and fans during a game in Auburn Hills, Michigan, between Artest's Pacers and the home team Detroit Pistons. The brawl involved Artest, Pistons center Ben Wallace, Artest's teammates Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson, several other players, and spectators including Pistons fan John Green[10] and Pistons fan A. J. Shackleford.[11]
The fight resulted in the game being stopped with less than a minute remaining. Jermaine O'Neal, Jackson and Wallace were suspended indefinitely the day after the game. A day later, the NBA suspended Artest for the rest of the regular season, plus any playoff games. Artest missed 86 games, the longest suspension for an on-court incident in NBA history.[12]

How is it a cop out? It's what he is. A terrible loser. And that isn't a bad thing to be as a high level athlete (unless, of course, this happens).

It's a cop out because it takes issue away from the whole situation and makes it less negative. People can say"he's just competitive" instead of "he's not very mature" and it makes te situation less fragile.

As much as some don't necessarily want to believe it, as evidenced by his actions of late, Smart isn't showing to be a mature player when things don't go his way. That's not necessarily a bad thing when it makes players elevate their game to higher levels, but when it causes reactions and results like we are seeing from him, it is.

Chiefs Pantalones 02-09-2014 12:14 AM

@GottliebShow: "wasn't vulgar or the N Word" another text from Orr - #MarcusSmart
