4/56 for Zobrist and he rejected several higher offers

Would guess Moustakas would hit 2 in that lineup rather than 7. If Cain/Hosmer/Morales/Moustakas repeat their 2015 seasons (or improve), it looks much different than that. I'd put it higher. If this offense is league average, they'll win 90+ again unless the pitching just collapses. |
Do we play Cubs next year in Kauffman?
|
I thought they'd toyed with moving Cuthbert to the OF before. I'm all for that... I think he's going to be good. I thought his bat looked like it belonged last year.

Thanks BZ.
It was an incredible ride. (Tips cap) |
Well, scratch Zobrist off the list. Cubs

As a Chicago resident and the Cubs being my "NL" team since I was a kid - WGN brainwashed me, this is about the least depressing scenario if you were forced to pick somewhere and it couldn't be back with the Royals.

That sucks. Oh well.
We have to remember as fans, to a lot of these guys it's just a business. Can't blame them one bit for chasing after the most money they can get. Especially after they get a ring. |
**** the Cubs. But good for Zobrist getting one last payday.

His potential for the numbers he may post if he build off last year like he did this previous season, are drool worthy! You want him happy and focused. He very well could be slashing MVP numbers with a bit more pop in his bat, and could be the best reason KC is a legitimate threat to be return for a 3rd time in a row to the fall classic. |
Adam Warren and Brendan Ryan for Castro. Probably a better deal for the Cubs.

Dyson is great in my opinion - they're not going to get less from him than what they did all season long from that position at the plate. I don't honestly think you can bank on Dyson being able to stay healthy for a full 162. Maybe 2/3rds as a platoon, and I'd feel a lot better if it was more like a 50/50 platoon split. Keep them healthy and Dyson can certainly play CF on days to spell Cain. |
I still like the idea of kicking the tires on Hyun Soo-Kim as an OF option. Could be a very similar player to Parra but at a discounted price (due to his Korean-ness).
Drew Stubbs remains an interesting/intriguing platoon partner for Jarrod Dyson. He had a bad 2015, but he's a god athlete who is going to be a cheap signing as a FA and has traditionally hit very well vs. LHP. Of course, Brett Eibner might be able to provide 80-90 percent of what Stubbs can, at a fraction of the cost. |

His former manager AND he is going to a legit team that could win a WS in the next 4 years. He made out like a bandit, and I don't have any spite for him. He'd be a Royal next season if he didn't get grossly overpaid. Half that contract is dead money |

Braves trade Shelby Miller to the D'backs, and get a haul in return.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Stunning return for <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Braves?src=hash">#Braves</a> - Inciarte, pitching prospect Blair and Swanson, No. 1 overall pick in ‘15 draft - and potential long-term SS.</p>— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) <a href="https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/674402104589463552">December 9, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
That deal for Miller is crazy. Those guys are all-in this year.
|
Reports that zobrist wanted to play 2nd exclusively. No more Swiss army knife
|
Makes sense because Arizona had such a good offense last year... plus Miller is under control for 2-3 more years. But still, giving up the #1 overall player in the draft last year, plus two other guys. The Braves certainly aren't hurting for prospects.

Cubbies a playoff team next year, maybe go to the WS
|
So what are the Zobrists going to name the Chicago baby? Cubbie?
I don't know why my heart sunk but Zobes on day 1 in a KC uni just struck a cord and I really took a shine to that guy. But have to admire GMDM he has his price and sticks to his guns. Oh ya and FU Madden I thought you were all about Gordo so I resigned my self to the fact we lose him but gain Ben. No I have to deal with losing them both. Good luck Ben and family was a wild ride and we couln't have done it without you. |

Yoenis "first WS inside-the-park home run since 1920s" Cespedes on the defensively-minded Royals?
Yeah, I call bullshit |
Quote:
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Giants, Angels, Tigers and Royals have been the most interested clubs in Cespedes’ market thus far in the offseason. However, Sherman adds that the Royals quickly came to realize that Cespedes is going to be beyond four years. |
Royals are getting into the Cespedes sweepstakes to know what Gordon can get IMO.

It's NOT the same old Royals. Get that through your head. |
If you want to know all you need to know about Cespedes look at the catch he tried to catch behind his back in the World Series and it bounced away and cost his team dearly on Escobars inside the park homerun.
Cespedes is not a Royal, he's a Yankee/Met/Dodger or whatever team will overpay him to make stupid decisions in the outfield and hit homers. He's the equivalent of Phillip Rivers, the talent is not worth the lack of team leadership, consistency, and overall just not giving a shit sometimes. |
