Quick question for the masses, here. I'm on the computer kind of rarely here lately (and my goof ass hours don't help matters), so is it against the rules for me to recruit an Assistant GM to help me out, in case it gets to where the picks start flowing and I'm nowhere to be found? Or should I just "sell" my team as it were? I'll take all the feedback and go from there.

Rain Man 06-29-2009 11:21 PM

I don't think there's any problem with getting an assistant GM.

Yeah, I definitely don't have a problem with an assistant GM. I would prefer that to dumping the team. I say find someone to help you with it!!

doomy3 06-29-2009 11:24 PM

Damn it. I wanted Avery.

doomy3 06-29-2009 11:27 PM

Levi Brown went in round 10 though...

OK, I haven't had the foresight to write down who people ahve drafted and am relying on the search forums, so I will go with Willie Colon - RT. (According to the search forums, he has not been mentioned yet.)

Yep, I think you're good there...

rockio42 06-30-2009 12:08 AM

I drafted Tanard Jackson with the 12th pick a couple pages back...

Mile High Mania 06-30-2009 06:58 AM

So, has anyone heard from Kiffins?

I know that many work and that this is the vacation season, so it would be nice if you posted you were going to be out so that someone could either pick for you or we could simply bypass the 12 hour time limit and move on.

I'm leaving on July 3rd and won't be back until July 11th. I'll have access, but not sure how often I will log on during my vacation. So, I'll likely PM Rainman and Pestilence with the positions I'm looking to draft and just ask them to pick the highest rated guy (youth playing a key role) at those spots.

Hell, at this pace... I might not miss more than 1 selection.

Rainman, I don't know if you're online, but I'd like for us to make an executive decision on Burger...

He is a new guy with only 19 posts and he hasn't logged on to the site (according to "last activity" on his profile), since June 21... NINE DAYS.

Can we just skip him and save us all 4 hours? His pick is up in 4 hours, let's just accept the fact that he's gone and if his activity doesn't change by the time he is up next, let's find a guest picker.

I don't want to be a prick about it, but we're on the verge of losing a full day of him being on the clock (behind 1 pick already).

Okay, Pick 1 occurred on April 3rd. It's now June 29th, and we're almost halfway through the 33 rounds. That means that basically we would complete Round 33 at the end of August at our current pace. That would actually work pretty decently given an opening day of September 10th, except we'll need 2 to 3 weeks to do the rookie draft.

We might be able to squeeze in the rookie draft, but it would be very close. Probably too close.

So how do we accelerate? I have a few suggestions, and let's hear what you think.

1. We start the rookie draft simultanously when we hit Round 26 of the veteran draft.

2. We could lower the time limit to 8 hours starting in Round 17.

3. Once we hit the start of Round 17, we could conceivably do something kind of unique by doing this: odd-numbered rounds draft from the AFC starting with the 1st pick, and even-numbered rounds draft from the NFC going backwards from the 19th pick, and we run them simultaneously. Both tracks have to finish up before we start the next pair of rounds, so we do 17 and 18, and then when they're done we flip conferences and do it again with Rounds 19 and 20.

What do y'all think?

Prefer option #2
and also something along the lines of if you're a pick behind, you get skipped when you're on the clock again. That could have sped us up by a couple of days already.
