and also something along the lines of if you're a pick behind, you get skipped when you're on the clock again. That could have sped us up by a couple of days already.

I'm totally on board and I would say let's make the 8 hour window happen now, just PM everyone.

Heh, we mentioned this earlier in the draft, and you kind of threw a fit about it.

What I didn't like about it was that you were trying to do it while they were on the clock with turn picks. Different situation.

I believe that the only thing that I have really bitched about was the way the rookie draft order was set. That still rubs me the wrong way, but it is what it is. The original order was randomly set, then we invert for the rookie, but then we re-randomize both the remainder and the coaches draft.

None of this is that big of a deal, but it's kind of things like that which would never fly in serious money leagues.

We need to lower the limit to 8 hours per pick and we also need to make it that if you're behind one pick....that we don't wait for your next pick. I'm tired of wasting 24 hours on a person that doesn't check the site in 9 days.

Agree on both counts.

Rain Man 06-30-2009 09:16 AM

Okay, let's go with this:

8 hours before you get skipped, and if you're behind one pick when your next pick comes up, you get skipped after two hours, which is enough to get a PM and make your arrival. Sound reasonable? I don't want to skip someone immediately.

One question, though. That rule means the guys on the end - Chiefs=Good and Bowser - will essentially have 10 hours to make two picks. Is that fair for them given that others have eight hours per pick? In a way, their task is easier because they can prepare all at once, but I don't want to screw them over.

A key to success for everyone would be to make sure someone else has a couple of options for you if you think you might have problems making your tee time.

I don't see any kind of disadvantage for the people on the ends. I mean, it's 8 hours to your pick, so you're here, why not make both picks? Or you're not, and you get skipped. I don't think it's any kind of disadvantage at all.

I can go with the 8 hours and 2 hours (for skipped picks). Chiefs=Good and Bowser have actually been pretty good about either being here for their picks or hurrying up when they're skipped. Plus if you have two picks in a row.....I'm not sure that you really need 16 hours to make both of them.

Old Dog 06-30-2009 09:30 AM

The turns would be the real possibilities to get hosed IMO. IE if the #2 is made at 2200ish then 8 hours would be up at 6am. It's quite possible that someone could miss a pick that way.
I would think that the turns (and ONLY the turns) should be given an the extra couple of hours, but would try to give them a 4 hour grace period rather than 2.

JMO though...........8 +2 works

I like the proposal by Rainman... this isn't real fast anyway, so let's say team X makes a pick at 9pm... and someone with B2B is up... by the time their clock expires, the other team likely won't be ready and even if they are, the team may miss on 1 player.

I'm all for it... we're at the point in the draft where there's a lot of options with similar value, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

The Atlantic City Hitmen are happy to announce Mr. Flopnuts as their new assistant general manager. Hopefully, this will ensure that the draft moves along with less time restraints, and that I will have coffee and donuts on my desk at 7a.m. every morning. Sharpish.
