Awesome games last night, regardless of the victor.

Great way to start off the College Basketball season.

Nights like last night is what cbb is all about. You saw 4 of the best powerhouses in bball go at it. Better than anything you'll see at the Maui Invitational.

As far as the KU goes. I was expecting them to lose based off what I saw the previous game. They couldn't guard the ball for shit. Still can't really...but it's early. I can't wait til this team learns to play defense, hopefully by conference play when everything starts to really matter. There were a lot of freshmen that came up big like night. VERY impressive. Parker is a stud...dude just couldn't be stopped last night. The foul calls are going to piss a lot of people off. In games/matchups like last night you have to let them battle, a lot like a HW title fight.

Unsung hero: Perry Ellis, he plays with his back to the basket, prob should have gotten called for traveling a few times, but the guy has amazing touch within 7 ft of the hoop. This game was about the hype of the freshmen, but Ellis was the reason the Jayhawks were in the game the first half.

Star on the rise: Frank Mason, dude's starting to get confident at the most position on the court. If he can work on his outside shooting, holy shit watch out. Guy's already better than Tharpe IMO. Never been a fan of Tharpe, but KU is going to need him this season. Frankamp IMO is too slow and needs to get bigger/stronger. As good as a shooter he is, maybe the best outside shooter in the country, Self isn't going to play him if he's going to be a liability on defense like a Conner Teahen.

Savior: Brennan Greene, he stepped in knocked down a couple 3's and a tough baseline shot and kinda gave KU a shot of momentum when they needed it the most. Wayne Seldon deserves this nomination too. He had a knack for making plays last night when the clock was getting low.

Overall this team is seriously talented. They're much further ahead than the 2006 Freshman class feat. Wright/Chalmers/Rush. Can't wait when they lock it down on defense. Team has a chance to go all the way.

I'm not tired whatsoever. Keeping busy nonstop at work won't allow me to be tired.

pleasantly surprised by the quality of basketball for both teams this early in the year.

Selden and Mason were the unsung heroes imo

Mason reminds me of Sherrod Collins a little bit

Selden looked so smooth and can do so much more than he did

Greene looked like a shooter

Embiid really struggled offensively last nite against a very pedestrian Duke front line. I think he finished with only 2 points on a dunk, and was very awkward when he got the ball in the lane. Didn't go up quickly, he's just too raw right now. That 3 he jacked up when the game was tied with 4 to play was not amusing in the least.

I love wayne selden so hard. Dude was years ahead of his age last night, talking to guys, calming them down or pumping them up. He's just so unbelievably mature and understands the game.

If he doesn't show range on his jumper then he might not make it to the league this year. And I'd be freaking out.

He's definately raw.

But you can see what everyone talks about with him. He might end up being the best player from this class in the end, if he can reach his ceiling.

It was good to see how he reacted to the double team, that usually doesn't come that fast to a freshman.

Give him a year with Huddy and the coaches at KU, he'll be a stud. I wish Danny was still here to work with him though.

Wayne Selden can pass the ball I think. Guys abolutely love playing with a guy who passes that much, who doesn't jack up bad shots, who locks down his guy on defense. He was such a huge get (I think for Norm Roberts in particular).

Yeah, college kids do that a lot... that's what made Mason's play the possession before so impressive. Mason had a better look from 3 than Embiid did, but chose to drive to the basket for a higher percentage shot (whether it it was at the basket or on the free throw line). A lot of college kids take that shot, regardless of how long they've been playing or even how good they are beyond the arc, and of course that couldn't be any more obvious during the next possession. And of course, it was his first college game in like his 3rd year of organized basketball, so it's nothing more than a learning opportunity.

He did, I think he ended with 5 assists. So it's clicking upstairs which is a great sign, but down low on the legs and feet, he's just not ready for this level. I still think he'll end up being a top-5 pick because of his ceiling. But scouts probably aren't interested in seeing him flash the 20-foot J.

Dude is gone after this year. Gone. He'll be a top five pick.

Embiid had 5 assists in the first half. Very unusual to see a big with that kind of court vision, especially with his limited experience level. I remain convinced he's going to be very good, it just may take a while to get there.
