Oh wow. I wonder what the incentives were? Now I'm really curious.

I know nothing about sport-agenting.

You cannot say they were wrong to turn down $54.5 million for 2024 and 2025 with Chiefs until you see what deal he gets from Chiefs or another team for 2024 and 2025.

I think it is more likely that he gets more, but time will tell.

if i had to guess that's what it is. a good deal to make him happy this year and then he's gone after this season

probably the best that could be salvaged. he's going to regret this most likely

Has he purchased tickets yet for the Jacksonville game?

I think you nailed it. Mike Evans is playing for his team despite contract negotiation problems with the Tampa front office. He said he didn't want to let down his teammates. He's handling it the right way.

Brian Burns is the better comp. He's basically in the same place Jones is, but when he couldn't reach a new deal with the Panthers, he put it all behind him and showed up to play.

I respect any of those guys who decide to play instead of holding out. They clearly care about their teammates. From an injury risk standpoint, I do understand why people go with the holdout approach.

I absolutely hate John Taffer. A little bit more than Rip from Yellowstone even and that says alot.

That show has ruined every decent dive bar in LA.

Chris made it abundantly clear that he had little interest in fighting alongside his teammates.

Sadly true, and I think there is reason to believe he will pull the same stuff we saw from Honey Badger. Whiffing on tackles and so forth to protect his body for his next contract.

Can't do that on the DL.

You play at 80% and you'll get hurt. The only way to stay healthy in the trenches is to play hard. The moment you start to jake it, you'll get blasted into a pile, someone will roll up on you and you'll watch that bag of cash vanish on you.

Out in space as a DB or WR, you can make business decisions. You do that shit on the lines and you'll regret it sooner rather than later.

How does that make sense? What does half assing it do for Chris Jones? This is such a stupid topic that keeps being brought up and no one can give a reason why he'd pull a honey badger.

There's a difference - a rather large one - between being an undersized S who makes his mark by being tough and smart, and being a big, strong, physical DT who is stronger and more athletic than basically everyone on the field.

Even aside from the fact that him not playing at his best costs him money this year and in future earnings. He has every reason to kick as much ass as he is capable of kicking.

I dont see it as nearly the same. Honey badger is a different animal. Love what that dude did for us but he was extremely dramatic. And we saw that coming even before the contract dispute. CJ has been nothing but an exceptional individual and teammate except for this contract situation. And now he’ll be playing for his final big contract of his life, so I don’t think he dogs it.

Ridiculous take. He's actually betting on himself to have 15 sacks and win DPOY. And also wanting to look like a badass so he can land a top DL contract in the offseason.

By the way, it ended up being a bad move by Honey Badger. For awhile it looked like he might not even find a new team.
