they were just up on the line trying to stop the 1st down. it's a defensive formation where you either stop them before the sticks or they get a huge gain. they were trying to win the game, just didn't work. defense played great

They've played well enough to win 99% of games. Definitely not to blame for the loss. But you need to hold there when you know the other team is running.
