BIG MONDAY BITCHES!

One of my favorite things about conference season (besides all the winning) is the 2-games-in-3-days scheduling. Just like the tournament.

We really need to start KU game threads individually. I'll do it.

It's a helluva lot better than this one game a week for the past month. :(

I was wondering what Self was so pissed about after half time against Texas Tech. I saw on TV that he was going off on the officials. This appears to be the answer.

Quote:

Weird rule?: Self was quite upset at the start of the second half when the officials awarded Tech the ball to begin play. Most assumed KU would get first possession, considering KU won the opening tap and there was just one tie-up the first half, Tech gaining possession.
However, with 8:11 left in the half, a foul was committed after Tech received a tied-up ball, causing the ball to go to KU. Since no time ran off the clock, the arrow didn’t change, so Tech had the arrow to begin the second half.
“I’ve never heard of the rule. I’m sure the officials are right,” Self said. “This isn’t me being upset with them ... when the foul occurred we got the ball. They said it would be double jeopardy for them to lose the possession arrow and the foul cost them possession which is total crap because it cost us a possession. The bottom line is they went back to the old possession arrow since the foul occurred when the ball wasn’t live, which I’ve never heard of that rule at all. To me it makes zero sense, but that is the rule.
“I’m sure they’re right. They said they’ve had it happen other times, but that’s one (rule) that may need to be visited. That penalizes a defense,” Self added.

Are there any other Kansas fans like me who find conference play boring? I mean, KU wins all the time. I root for them obviously but it just isn't that satisfying going into every season knowing you'll win. The 1980s were great because there were good teams to compete with KU, and road games? Tough! Danny Manning never won in 4 trips to Ames (and Larry Brown went 0-5). Nowadays it's hard to spot many matchups where KU would be the underdog.

Think I read somewhere that KU has been an underdog something like 40 times in the last 15 years. That's just about 3 times per season. Since they play 35 games it would appear that KU is favored in over 90% of their games. Seems like the only interesting part about KU basketball any more, is the NCAA Tourney.

I love watching every game they played. I wish they played 30 more than they do.

You really didn't enjoy the Texas Tech game. Right?

Pretty much. I've wanted us to switch conferences for a longggg time. We haven't ever had a true rival really because we're so good. The KU/Mizzou "rivarly" (it's not a rivalry, but for the sake of this discussion we'll call it that loosely) is cute and all but nothing to be taken seriously by KU fans; some do but yeah, it's odd. I find it hard to hate a school you own. MU fans, yes, they loved it because they wanted to beat the best and if they won that was pretty much the best thing to happen to them all year in either sport because they don't compete for championships period.

I wanted us to move to the ACC along with UK. The blue bloods all together battling it out. Legends vs. legends. In a perfect world that'd happen. Not the case though obviously.

I love watching every game no matter what, but it'd make it a whole heck of a lot more interesting during conference time that's for sure.

Indiana goes down at home to Wisconsin. I can't wait until March, it's gonna be another crazy one.

FYP.

Ole Miss pulled at KU tonight as well. Much like BMac's three at the buzzer against ISU to go to OT and then roll... Ole Miss did the same against Vandy. Hit a three at the buzzer and then cruise to a 10 point win in OT.
