Dear dating thread,

I'm talking to this girl I met online. She's 24 (I'm 19) and I feel like I'm in way over my head. She is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, and has worked her way up to a very nice career in the career field I plan on entering when I graduate. I'm not someone who generally lacks self confidence, but when I talk to her I feel like I'm making an ass of myself, second guessing everything I say.

Any helpful advice?

Yours truly,
Big Smoke

You could very well be on MTVs show Catfish very soon.

Agreed. But that's how I feel. I'm trying to get out of that mindset. I actually took a risk and told her a little abt how I felt. She just said she felt quite flattered, and to not worry about it.

Do you have any plans to meet up with this girl? I think that should go a long way towards determining how to feel about it. If you're still uncomfortable around her even after a few meetings, then maybe things won't work out; if being around her puts you at ease, then your problem is fixed.

Alternatively, if she's a man in her 40's, you have the opportunity to experiment! That's what all the kids are doing these days, right?

I can assure you that I am not. In fact, I met her this morning for coffee. Nothing major, we just discussed her work, how I'd like to get where she is some day. Also talked about the Chiefs, and how we were both pumped to watch the Denver game. Then we made dinner plans for Friday night.

Woo! PBJ

Given the age and experience difference you probably are, but you're 19 and it damn sure won't be the last time you do it so quit giving a shit about it and just PIIHB while making some connections in the field you plan to enter.

Dayze 11-07-2013 11:52 AM

Answer all of her questions, with questions. You're golden

She told me today she was really impressed with my overall knowledge in the field, considering how young I am and all. I'm pretty nervous about dinner plans for tomorrow.. I don't want to make any glaring mistakes and **** things up before they get started.
