Chiefs are trying to pretend they're about as interested as you might be to pick up a nickel off the pavement. Thomas is trying to lower his trade value to add urgency and make it happen.

In summation: everyone just calm the **** down.

Not that I want it to happen in the least bit, but if the Donkeys beat us on MNF I think that will raise the urgency level for Veach...

Perhaps that’s a lose/win situation?!?

The waiting game.

Schneider: Brett my man ! We need a 2nd rd pick to do this deal.

Veach: Too expensive

Schneider: Well I guess the question you must ask yourself is what is more expensive? Ruining a SB run with that horrid 2ndary you have or having at least a chance of winning a SB because your defense came up with just enough stops?

You forgot the next part of the conversation...

Veach: Well, I guess the question you must ask yourself is what you're going to do with a guy that doesn't want to play there, especially when you need a ton of picks to rebuild your basement-dweller team.

:D

I think this process could be pushed into overdrive tomorrow if he doesn't show up for practice again. That will tell us a lot IMO.

Let's hope.

Next step: don't show up for the game on Sunday.

Schneider: Well I guess it's all about perspective now isn't it! Both you and I know you have a SB offense that won't attend the dance because you won't be able to make enough stops and you know it !! ET paired with EB and you are SB bound if not winning the SB. Your need of ET is far greater than my need to trade him for picks so you may want to rethink the 'too expensive' price tag.:D

If "EB" ever sees the field again, and if he's as good as he used to be, and if he can stay on said field once he manages to get back on it, and if they dealt for "ET" - even though we have nothing but unsubstantiated rumors that they are even interested -

They've still got 7 or so spots on the defense where the players just aren't good enough, and can't do what they need to do any more than my dog can make me dinner.

It would be comforting to see them give up 7 fewer points during the regular season, but a defense that is bad in all the fundamentals isn't going to make it through the postseason.

Chiefs fans should know this better than anyone. We've seen vaunted defenses flop in the playoffs because they meet a team that can hold their own against it, and demolish us on the other side of the ball. We've seen vaunted offenses be contained just enough for our pitiful defense to send them out in the first round. We have seen supposed "ball hawking" defenses go silent and cough up historic leads in the postseason twice.

You have to have balance and not have huge glaring weaknesses that good teams are going to exploit without much trouble if you really are to be considered a contender.

More ammo this year would be fine, but they can't rebuild a whole defense at midseason. It's going to take several offseasons.

The Chiefs should dangle Breeland Speaks while they're at it.

Convince SEA he has unmatched potential and can run like a deer.

Not really - If you have a bad ass offense, you just need to be able to stop the run on defense.

Yeah there was zero D in the Superbowl last yr.

CaliforniaChief 09-26-2018 09:35 PM

I remember Tony Gonzalez's last season with the Falcons before he retired, and we needed a tight end and were making a run towards the playoffs. It made so much sense but never happened.

Hopefully we can get this one done at the right time. That would be now. But yeah.

Our D is shit, I won't argue there, but how much of those PPG is the opposition playing catch-up/garbage time. ET and hopefully EB solidify our secondary. We can only hope whatever early-ish picks we'd have left would be spent on CB. This trade would be massive
