They aren't technically UFA's yet, are they?

Actually, Terez Paylor broke the Smith trade and the Redskins hadn't notified Fuller yet.

If the Chiefs have been warned, there's no way they're leaking the details because they'd likely be fined and lose draft picks.

This.

1. The Chiefs have the adbility now to hand out a big contract. That's what I think this is about. We are going to spend money on a sure fire player who is young and fills an important hole on the defense. Donald is in his final year, he's probably going to be difficult for the Rams to keep, so move him now and they Chiefs give him an extention.

Then send the Chiefs a 2nd next year and something this year.

Make a ton of sense and s consistant with how Veach has opperated. He's going to fill a major area of need. Just watch.

I really hope you’re right. I ask this question out of pure ignorance, but why would it be easier for us to give him an extension as opposed to the Rams? Are they in worse cap shape than we are?

Of course it was. And while I understand it (given Sauto’s info), I’m still sick to my ****ing stomach knowing we’re trading him away for a few mid round picks.

No, but when the deal can techincially be done they will be.

I think this being quiet is a good sign. We're getting something equal in return for the best young cheap corner in the NFL.

Not til the league year is up but they chiefs wouldn’t do that trade cause said players would just say no and become ufa anyway

bigjosh 02-24-2018 11:04 AM

I dont get the people saying "kc has been warned"

There are no rules about clubs talking to eachother and setting things up ahead of the new league year.

mcaj22 02-24-2018 11:04 AM

this place is going to go absolutely mental after waiting and building suspense for what the Chiefs got and it's lower than all the dream scenarios

It's not Donald. But I agree that whoever comes back will fill a need.

Then it would need to be a 3rd year player that's an RFA in 2018 and a UFA in 2019.

Teams can't trade guys that are set to be 5th Year Unrestricted Free Agents, unless it's a Tag & Trade deal, which would mean a huge Salary Cap hit, and even then, the Chiefs would need to be in touch with the player's agent because the player could just sit out.

Teams aren't permitted to talk to agents at this time of the year and if something like that went down, the League Office would probably hit the Chiefs even harder than the Maclin tampering, which was a 3rd and a 6th.

Agree. That’s a fireable offense

**** me

The thing that is confusing is that when they say ‘we should be happy’... I just don’t know what they base that on.

Some fans are never going to be happy because they want to keep Peters that badly. Some fans are going to be happy no matter what cause they want rid of him that badly.

For me, I don’t know where the line is. I’d love at least the 2018
1st, but even then, I’d like another pick or two.

Announcing trades is altogether different

farmerchief 02-24-2018 11:05 AM

A trade involving someone with the stature of Donald, would in my opinion, fit the initial news of a "blockbuster" type trade involving the Chiefs. A trade with the Rams involving picks lower than a #1, wouldnt be what I consider a blockbuster trade?(unless you are the Rams of course)

But have they actually announced anything? I get that they shouldn't be announced, but details can leak from anywhere.
