Not really. The Big 10 is an unbelievable bball conference this year. Wisconsin would finish 2nd in the Big 12. Indiana is still very good. They may lose 8 games this yr and still be a great team.

This isn't a testament to how good the BIG10 and Wisconsin is...

It shows how shitty the BIG12 is this year.

Yup. Kenpom's ratings for the Big Ten this year have them solidly in first, but their score this year is worse than 2009, when they were 5th on his ratings. Their score for this year would be good enough for 3rd to 6th in most other years.

I root for them obviously but it just isn't that satisfying going into every season knowing you'll win. The 1980s were great because there were good teams to compete with KU, and road games? Tough! Danny Manning never won in 4 trips to Ames (and Larry Brown went 0-5). Nowadays it's hard to spot many matchups where KU would be the underdog.

Think I read somewhere that KU has been an underdog something like 40 times in the last 15 years. That's just about 3 times per season. Since they play 35 games it would appear that KU is favored in over 90% of their games. Seems like the only interesting part about KU basketball any more, is the NCAA Tourney.

I enjoy conference. Although this year may not be as competitive. Remember, last season KU had to beat MU at Allen Fieldhouse in order to secure the conference title. And KSU has beaten KU twice at Manhattan in the past 5 seasons. That ISU game the other night was a nail biter. If you find it boring, I suggest you go find another team/sport to watch.

I don't agree with this. "Great" teams don't lose 8 games.

No shit. It's like watching the anti-Chiefs.

If the game gets out of hand, I still love to watch it because I love basketball. A lot of players flash potential in the blowout games that just gets me excited as shit.

And conference is always tough. Teams have put their best games together for KU, and have for a long time. Everybody wants to be the one to topple the giant. There will be tough games. KSU would sell their mothers to prostitution rings to beat KU, ISU still puts together big games, We never play all that well against UT, OSU has some weapons and that is almost always a game we sleep walk through. OU looked shitty early on, but I don't know what they have now. And we still have to go to Baylor.

There are a lot of potentially good games.

But, losing to a SHITTY Wisconsin team at home is a really bad loss.

If Wisconsin was in the B12, they'd be the 2nd best team. It wasn't good to lose to them at home, but that's not that bad of a loss.

Right.

Because the BIG12 sucks this year.

Not that Wisconsin is that good.

ChiefMojo 01-17-2013 05:53 AM

Wisconsin IS actually pretty good. They aren't pretty to watch but they are good at what they do imo.

Kansas' McLemore Named to The Sporting News Mid-Season All-America Team
McLemore is second in the Big 12 with a 16.4 ppg average

Jan. 16, 2013

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas redshirt freshman Ben McLemore has been named to the Sporting News Mid-Season All-America First Team it was announced Tuesday.

McLemore is joined on the first team by Oklahoma State freshman Marcus Smart, Michigan sophomore Trey Burke, Creighton junior Doug McDermott and Duke senior Mason Plumlee.

A 6-foot-5, guard from St. Louis, McLemore ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring at 16.4 points per game and with an 87.7 free throw percentage. He has five games of 20 points or more including 22 in KU’s victory at Ohio State (Dec. 22) and 33 in Kansas’ overtime win against Iowa State on Jan. 9. His 33-point effort is the most scored by a Big 12 player this season and the most by a Kansas freshman since All-American Danny Manning scored 35 against Oklahoma State in 1985.

Sporting News reporter Mike DeCourcy wrote this about McLemore: “It has taken some prompting to get McLemore to understand how important he is to the offense. The nature of the KU system does not put the ball in his hands a ton, so he has to look to score when he gets it. He has gone through eight games with single-digit shot attempts, which is a lot for a player who clearly is his team’s best scorer. He has made the difference when necessary, though: in a tough road game at Ohio State, in a closer-than imagined overtime home win over Iowa State.”

On Monday, McLemore was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for his performance against Iowa State. He became the first player this season to earn both Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week accolades.

No. 4/4 Kansas continues Big 12 action and will play at Texas Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. (Central) on CBS.

IT IS NOT MY FAULT

But.....

Scott City is playing Wichita North. Frankamp stole the ball and dude tries to get in front of him and completely underestimated his quickness. Frankamp went up to dunk, missed and came down on his head. My buddy is there and said there is lots of blood and probably concussed.
