Who knows for sure? Confidence can be picked up through body language, you don't even have to speak.

Maybe you're turning these chicks off before you even open your mouth. That's possible considering you seem to have so much trouble bagging girls when you're out at bars do often.

One would like to believe being fat doesn't affect your ability to attract women, but that is completely false.

I meant maybe go out with one of them. Women tend to be attractive to guys that already have a girl for whatever reason.

I hung out with this girl last night and I assumed she was interested in me. I think she just wanted to talk and smoke because she said she likes girls, but as she was leaving she said she likes guys too.

Probably just doing something to creep these broads out. Trying too hard, being too serious, overly nervous, or whatever. Just talk to a bunch of girls, don't over think it, and don't be afraid to laugh at yourself. If some girl isn't interested, or rejects you, just wish her a nice day and move on. Don't dwell on it.

This is really what it boils down to.

Talk to a girl. If she stops talking to you, find another one to talk to. Repeat these steps until you find one who talks to you too much.

Is asking them if they want to go to the woods too creepy?

If they're attracted to you they'll follow you anywhere.
