But I also think you're entirely minimizing the situation by just assuming they should've been able to easily play the game on Tuesday or Wednesday. I think it's a different perspective on empathy for where they were at those points, but we've all gone back on that ad nauseum so no reason to rehash.

If the game could've been rescheduled for this weekend and they refused, absolutely on the same page as you.

Easily? No one ever said easily, of course it wouldn't have been easy to play on Tuesday or Wednesday, but playing on Wednesday or Sunday is really no different. He didn't die on the field. The reports yesterday morning, is he was improving, and they most likely had more information than we had Tuesday morning. Yes it wouldn't have been easy, but it would have been fair.

It makes me wonder if they are just waiting and hoping the Bills win and the Chiefs and Bengals lose making it easier to just cancel the Bills/Bengals game from the schedule. Maybe a lower tier WC possible team gets screwed, but none of the 1 seeds are affected.

The outcome of the Cincy/Buffalo game... whether it will be a no contest, a Buffalo loss/forfeit, or replayed at a later date... affects seeding/playoff implications for multiple AFC teams this weekend.

So it's not just "neurotic fans" needing to know... it's the other teams, players, coaches, etc. involved in the playoff chase that need the information as well.

This^

They (NFL) need to come to some conclusion about this before Kickoff on Saturday...

The opposite is far more likely to happen.

My guess that they do something above and play all Buffalo, KC and Cincy games between each other at a a neutral site Give each team half the tickets to sell to their fans.

Chiefs probably get the bye if they beat the Raiders. End up with a AFC Championship game in Indy.

comochiefsfan 01-05-2023 11:46 AM

Lotta people on Twitter saying the Chiefs and Bengals should play at a neutral site as well if they meet in the playoffs.

Assuming we beat the Raiders on Saturday, that makes zero sense considering they wouldn't have had a chance to jump us in the standings regardless.

FloridaMan88 01-05-2023 11:47 AM

Watch them put the AFC Championship Game in Pittsburgh (assuming the Steelers don't make the playoffs/advance to the AFC Championship Game), which is Hamlin's hometown so they can make a big sympathy party out of it.

Sassy Squatch 01-05-2023 11:47 AM

Why the **** would the Bengals be relevant in this discussion? They weren't playing for the 1 seed and if we win on Saturday they shouldn't factor in, at all.

Yeah, in the Bengals had a two TD lead with about five minutes left we could be comfortable saying they would win. Not midway through the 1st quarter.

The NFL opens Pandora's box if they do anything but just let the Chiefs keep the one seed they already earned.

They're gonna have 3 or 4 more fanbases begging for a handout.

There have been a lot of absurd ideas thrown out there. Even if KC won the Colts game, you would still see these morons coming up with the same ideas.

wbbonneriii 01-05-2023 11:49 AM

How about you just do this...

Keep the game suspended and if the Chiefs win they get the #1 seed with the Bills #2 and Bengals #3 but if the Bills / Bengals meet in the divisional round the Bills must travel to the Bengals for that game or at a neutral site (to provide the Bengals the home field game again since this game was cancelled).

TambaBerry 01-05-2023 11:50 AM

im sorry, but thats stupid. The Bills didn't play their game against the Bengals. One of our losses was to the Bengals. It could have been one of the Bills losses. Bills need to suck it up and accept the 2 seed and feel lucky the Bengals didn't jump them and drop them to the 3 seed. None of this sharing the one seed crap.

Wouldn't that be exactly a situation where compromise would make sense? It wasn't a 0% chance, right? If the Chiefs are given the option, they should OBVIOUSLY take the bye week as that gives them an advantage on par with the probablistic advantage they had when the game was postponed.

Phrased another way...
Would you prefer:
1/ allowing the Bengals/Bills game to be resumed and then determing seedings based on that?
OR
2/ being given the 1 seed with a bye but have the AFCCG played in Buffalo?

Probabalistically speaking, I think they put us in a similar place. And that's why it's a relatively fair compromise option.

But why should KC who did nothing wrong be expected to compromise?

FringeNC 01-05-2023 11:50 AM

So we really are going to get an insane remedy?
