The guy is in his 4th season...and STILL one of the younger guys in that position.

They are taking their sweet time priming him for life after Alex.

Holy shit Carpenter is a prick. Ford acknowledges he didn't play well and shows humility, so he turns it into a confidence thing?

As he should.

I don't like railing on the guy, but he cannot execute basic defensive assignments with any sort of regularity, and the excuses are running out.

He is over thinking, you can see it in his play.

He is apparently trying to make sense of what he is doing on a philosophical level....takes a lot of thought.

First off, I respect your takes with regards to football and contributions to the forum.

But dare I say Carpenter is saying what many are thinking about Ford. How many more opportunities go by for him which he cannot seize? It is becoming a pattern. Can't supplant the aging Hali (not easy to do) going on 3 years now, he has done the humility/aw shucks/say all the right things bit too often now.

When reporters, the common fan, and even teammates (reference Hali's mild call out of Ford before camp) are now challenging his performances, the pressure should be on and he needs to respond.

I don't think Carpenter was out of line here. He too saw what everyone else did Saturday.

LMAO

Its sucks to say it, but Dee Ford sure seems like "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane"....he better step up quickly because there are a bunch of guys hunting for his job.

Moses looked sharp
Nicholas looks like he has REAL potential
Zombo is dependable
Houston is an all pro
Hali is a big timer

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if they move Dee Ford before final cuts unless he steps it up a few notches.

Nicolas is too inexperienced and Moses and Zombo have only proven themselves to be quality backups thus far.

We really can't afford to give up on Ford at this point.

Nor should we.

And I would argue the over $2 million in dead money associated with a release and/or trade of Ford is a bigger factor. I don't think Reid/Dorsey dole out roster spots snd playing time based on draft position or hope of potential.

O.city 08-15-2016 10:54 AM

Ford just doesn't seem to have much awareness on the football field.
