And yet they never thought to make shields, even with that big old farmhouse, until T-Dog scooped one up. How about that.

A ton of time has passed since last season. They've been on the run, scavenging, for at least 4-5 months judging by how far along Lori is with her pregnancy. They also make several references to "we've been at this all winter" as does Michonne when talking with the blonde (can't remember her name, Erica?).

I really liked that aspect of the opener. They're a lean, mean walker fighting machine, now.

That's part of what bothered me. Season 2 ended with the prison being right behind them and it has taken them 6 months to find it again and realize it might be a safe place.

Didn't they mention at one point last night that they had circled back to where they started in their travels and needed to seek out in a different direction, which is when they discovered the prison?

Yes. They talk about "we've been running in a circle." Evidently they've been dodging massive herds of walkers. It's a little unrealistic, as I think they'd be able to get out of the area if they wanted to.. but whatever.

Didn't notice. Lori sucks and I tend to drift off when scenes with her talking pop up.

Carl might actually be a likeable character this season, though. Kid seems to have gone through some major puberty in the last 6-8 months.

They can totally leave the area that they are in, but chose to stay in it cause it's what they know. At least that is the way I read it. Think about it, shit has hit the fan, you are no longer the bear, you are the rabbit. Do you just head off into an area you don't know, or do you try to make your current surroundings last as long as possible.

I will totally agree with the earlier comments about the handguns. I don't even own a gun, or shoot, but I know that hitting targets at that range with that accuracy with a handgun would be amazeballs. Pretty unrealistic to just a common gun nub.

I did like how the brought the intensity of clearing out the prison though, I thought they did real well on that. Except one thing, in that situation I would be doubling up on the one's I think are dead. Every "corpse" gets a spear through the eye socket just to make sure. And what is Herschel doing walking right through the lap of a corpse. You survive in that world for longer than 6 months, and you do something that stupid, you deserve to be a buffet.

They're generally not very smart.

I still won't mind if he gets his face eaten off.

RAGE! This didn't record for me last night and Walking Dead was like 3rd on my list for priority. That's some bullshit right there.

I think that it's trying to stick to the comics in introducing a new "type" of zombie: the lurker. Not sure if they'll make more of it or not, but in the comics, it's a specific type:

http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Zombies
Quote:

Lurkers are the zombies that just sit around playing "dead" until something approaches them and they bite. Lurkers can be the real threat because they can appear to be a dead corpse. One of them was responsible for Allen's death and Dale losing one of his legs. Oftentimes, lurkers have suffered some type of major injury or are otherwise in some kind of weakened state, preventing them from walking around. The term "lurker" is used most frequently in the Comic Series.
Of course you're right that they should be careful and that was idiotic, but I don't think they'd yet encountered zombies that "played dead."

You didn't miss much........

It was better than 99% of Season Two and on Par with the high points of S2.

Take you DVR and spike it against the concrete.
