How can you convey to 90% of your audience that soldiers who KNEW they were going to die would hold on as long as they did and as well as they did? You make it larger than life. You avoid the fact that most of the Persian soldiers were untrained farmers, you make your soldiers larger than life, killing giant wolves as kids. You make the Persian King a freak, a tremendous exceptionally strong, intelligent, charasmatic freak. You splash blood like watered down paint and you slow motion the better attacks that go against every rule of physics.

Now Troy - That truly sucked. How can you take a war that lasted ten years, a war of treachery, intelligence, love, and utter servitude and trade it in for a two week jaunt with sneak stab by Brad Pitt instead of the intense powerful titanic invulnerable warrior that Ajax was supposed to be.

Jesus Christ Troy was bad. Horrendous. Brad Pitt was horrible. Worse than horrible. The problem for Troy was that Alexander came out at the same time. Troy had all the makings of one of the worst movies ever, but all the negatives went to Alexander instead.

Yep. One big POS that movie.

What sucked about Troy was that it COULD have been a good movie.

In fact, I sort of liked the ending, but the beginning and middle were so stupid, so full of idiocy, that it washed out the rather strong ending scene.

I mean, c'mon they had WW2 era beach obstacles (stakes set up in the beach) against pre classical ships? HELLLO...how f'n stupid can you get? They filmed an opposed beach landing scene!!!! In ancient frigg'n warfare!!!!

She looks pretty hot to me. I guess our definition of fat and ugly must be far different. Drew was hot in Charlie's Angels & Ever After, though neither movie was great.

Paul Blart Mall Cop. I Redboxed it. Terrible, TERRIBLE decison.

They evidently built a giant wooden horse within a week as well.

The Trojan War is one of my favorite stories of all time. What a horrid display of Americanism.

I know that I'll get very little agreement here, but I actually liked Wyatt Earp better than Tombstone. Both movies are good, but Tombstone is a melodramitic popcorn flick while Earp is more of an Epic film. I also thought Kilmer was cartoonish(albeit cool) as Doc. Quaid transformed into a whispy Doc Holiday that was far closer to most photos and descriptions of the actual man. Both are great movies, I'll pick the one with more depth.

Yup, same genres but greatly different styles. I liked both.

I thought Donnie Darko was a terrible movie.

What a load of pretentious bullshit.

Please tell me someone mentioned Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Battlefield Earth?

Summer Catch
Any movie starring Martin Lawrence
Fast n Furious 2
Shanghai Knights
Churchball (this movie is about a church basketball league)
Any Jimmy Fallon movie
Dunston Checks In
American Outlaws - worst western ever
Any of those ****ing gay reeruned MTV group dancing movies.

I'm still trying to finish this thread, but you totally called
the one I was going to choose: "Churchball"... I'd say just about all those Mormon movies are bad. And while I'm at it Scientology movies suck too... Battlefield Earth might be the worst SciFi movie ever, and I like bad SciFi movies like Starship Troopers.

Yeah, I love Kevin James but his personality that he portrayed was nothing like what we see in his old sitcom. The movie wasn't absolutely terrible but I was disappointed.

Two of the worst I have seen in the theater by memory. Pretty Woman which I fell asleep during and Serpent and the Rainbow which is I think the only movie I ever actually left the theater. I was in high school at the time but just didn't get it and to this day have never desired to watch it again.

Surprised at a lot of the choices on here though. Some of the movies mentioned (Twister, Days of Thunder, any of the Star Wars flicks), I watch every time I come across them on the tube. Shows how varied peoples opinions are.

keg in kc 09-25-2009 11:18 PM

The worst movie I've ever seen in a theater is still Batman and Robin.
