You dont get a pass unless you are in qualifying position when you crash. Not sure where the canadian was, but if he wasn't top 2 when he went down, he's screwed. Thats one of the risks of hanging out in the back like Ohno's been doing. If you arent in the top 2 or 3, you better not go down.

It might also be a quarter-only thing too. If you are in the lead in the medal race and go down, they dont hand you a gold. I think they only want 6 in the final no matter what.
