Watching this thread derail, it occurs to me that the Mets fans seem to mostly play nice with each other. Even in vehement disagreement I haven't seen much at all in the way of personal attacks directed at each other.

A lot of similarities given the 29 years of suffering for both franchises. The "been a Royals fan for 2 years" is a tired narrative, but understandable given an outsiders perspective. Hey guys, good news! I just got my government paycheck and the wife picked up an extra $5 from this big city rich guy she met while working at the tassles bar. I was going to spend that on extra duct tape to fix up all the holes in our trailer, but given that the World Series only comes once every 4 years, and the Royals happen to be playing in it, I think I'll actually pay my cable bill this time and enjoy the rest of the series on our color television set!
