The Bible makes a lot of rules that we don't follow anymore, including ones about women's periods, what we eat and when, fabrics, personal hygiene, and others. How do you know which ones you are supposed to follow in 2016 vs. which ones are OK to ignore?

I think you're confusing me with someone else. I think this is the first time I've mentioned hate. And it was hyperbole.

1) Misconception: The Torah went out with Christ. If you're not obedient that's on you, and you'll get a chance to answer for it. Briefly.
NOTE: Does not include following the made-up garbage of Prushim and Zadokim( i.e. Mishna and Talmud )

2) There are 613 commandments as proscribed by God and delivered to the nation of Israel at Mt. Sinai. Some are for men, some are for women, some are strictly directed at the sons/descendants of Aaron and Levi. Again, if you are not familiarizing yourself with these things and/or believe that just because you went to an altar for 10 minutes and said "I love you Jesus"(!), and received a celestial insurance policy, that's on you.

As to your question regarding fibers, the intent behind that commandment was to separate the children of Israel from the practices of the remnant of Babylonian sun-worshipers/Nimrod-worshipers, scattered at the tower in the land of Shinar whose "priests" made garments specifically in this blending manner.
