Oh yes. Totally agree.

Getting back to Hollywood Brown, what do we expect from him on Saturday? I think it's a bit of a fantasy that he will come in and suddenly make our deep passing game relevant again, so will he be an effective replacement for what Rice was giving before he got hurt? I honestly just don't know his game that well and what to expect.

I think the difference in our respective outlooks is simple:

If the OL doesn't play any better at all than it did in the mid-season, this team can win a championship by Mahomes simply playing to his ability. Hitting the shots he has and not feeling phantom pressure. Stop moving yourself into contact, run the offense.

That doesn't mean things are going to be easy for him or that they're going to put up 40+. But with this OL playing as it did for the middle part of the season, Mahomes can raise his level to a place sufficient for us to win championships. We don't NEED a significant improvement at OL.

Meanwhile, if the OL were to become a brick wall and Mahomes were to STILL see phantom pressure and STILL miss open shots (or simply not throw them), we lose.

You're using the OL improvement as a proxy for Mahomes improvement and saying one is vital to the other. I'm saying the Mahomes improvement is ALL that matters. And even if the OL doesn't improve substantially, Mahomes getting even to his level of last post-season will be enough to 3-peat.

But it starts with Mahomes.

What I keep coming back to is the "he's getting hit and it's messing with his mental timing". Well, all Qb's get hit, it's the NFL.

I dunno. It's weird. He's been knocked around before, is this just a cumulative effect?

As it should be, but I will remind you that this team has already shown those flashes when it needs to.

The game winning drives vs the Bucs, Chargers and Panthers all looked like playoff Mahomes. You’re not gonna go Super Saiyan every single week bud. These teams want to beat us. Every week is another teams SB. The Browns Hard Knocks episode literally proved that. They pumped that game up.

These guys look tired. They look like they need a break bc they do. They know they have less than a week to push for getting a 3 week break to refresh and prepare for the playoff run.

Mahomes is the best 3rd down QB in the league and has 7 game winning drives this year. That’s 1 shy of the NFL record for most in a season.

The flashes are there.

Expecting the 2018 offense to appear? No.

Punting 9 times in a game in which Patrick Mahomes is your QB and Andy Reid is your OC/HC is a problem.

We're back to the "he played well in the 4th quarter, just needed 1 more play" stuff. I'm glad he's been that good on third down, but if you'd be better on 1st and 2nd you wouldn't put so much pressure on yourself on 3rd down.

A lot of that is the running game. No push from the line and no burst from the backs. Teams are sitting on the short stuff and stopping the run. That's why you saw what you saw against Cleveland. They HAVE to find a way to get the ball downfield or they're just throwing themselves at the teeth of the defense play after play.

Pacheco has poor vision.

There's a reason Hunt always seems to look immediately better.

I disagree. I fully expect the passing game plan to look better and more balanced. As far as his individual production? I really don't know. I doubt Andy dials up a lot for him out of the gate, but I still expect his presence to be felt.

Hunt has better vision but it doesn't do as much good when he's so slow.

For sure, but I think the OL has taken some bullets this year for things not necessarily their fault.

Hunt hits the spots much better. I'm sounding like a bitter ass, but I've never been a big Pacheco guy. He brings energy and such, but he's gonna run for what's blocked where it's blocked.

Yeah - Kelce said he would be back (and that Pat would play) on Saturday on the podcast.

I think the biggest difference he'll make is in the intermediate game and on crossers.

We don't have a lot of catch and run in the offense right now. Most of the YAC seems to come on designed quick hitters/screens. The 'gadget plays' that everyone hates.

But we don't get much YAC within the flow of the offense at all and I think Hollywood can help a lot there.
