It makes such a huge difference.

Wore ski pants, couple pairs of socks, heavy long sleeve shirt and a hoody to the Tenn game last year when it was 15 degrees or so.

Didn't even have to put up my hood up.

Or maybe "Blood Wolf."

Thanks. It is unfortunate if Patriots fans or people pretending to be Patriots fans are trolling. Good discussion is what these boards should be about.

Only two teams I really don't like are Lakers and Yankees. I get why folks who grew up outside of New England probably don't like Celtics/Patriots/Red Sox.

KC has to take into account how Brady's 41 year old arm will respond to 5 degree temperature. He's not 23 years old... Gordon is gone...so their deep threat isn't there from the first match-up.

I saw a chart and TB attempted only 1 20+ yard pass vs. the Chargers. Focus on the screen/run/short YAC game...it's hard to have 10-12 pay drives on the road and keep pace with KC's offense. You need to be nearly perfect...in insane crowd noise.

They need to focus on White...

This x100

However the big question is obviously going to be can the Chiefs stop the run..Brady isn't going to make it rain all over the Chiefs secondary in this cold. It's gonna be smash mouth.

I think it's going to be a blood-bath...they are 3-5 on the road for a reason.

I posted after the first game...that it was BB's best shot at confusing Mahomes and it lasted 2 quarters. He put up 31 after halftime.

Brady's last game at Arrowhead...he was benched and lost 41-14. He also got blown out in the season opener... Sutton is in his head...as strange as that sounds.

He faced Belichick/Brady twice a year for 6 seasons with the Jets....

Belichick cant handle Reid's scheme...he's put up 40 in 3 out of 4 meetings....and some pundent pointed out that Pederson's Eagles did too. So 4 of the 7 times 40+ points have been scored on NE in the past 18 years are Reid concept derivative. BB cant scheme away Reid's players...and that's his MO.

It's worth noting that Mahomes first ever start was AT Denver altitude week 17 and was 15 degrees...he looked completely unaffected.

That's saying something to play there, in the thin air...and still kick ass.

Ask Patriot fans about playing in Denver...

If all things were equal in terms of # of fans yelling at the same level then the sound will be much louder in a cold weather game than a warmer day. The top of the sound waves will travel faster then turn downward onto the field where it will be louder and you will hear more people yelling.

If Arrowhead stadium is packed and everyone is engaged, they could break their own decibel record. I really hope people go and everyone is yelling their heads off at the right times.

I am completely 100% fine with turning the power off on the Patriots's heated bench....they've earned it. They got a game with 0 penalties....so now they get a cold bench with no home-town officials able to fix it for them.

I’ll take our QB with no SB rings who enjoys ketchup over their QB with 5 SB rings who enjoys french kissing little boys.

Rausch 01-16-2019 02:17 AM

After what I saw from the defense last week I like our chances.

This defense needs to attack. Odds are good they give up big plays blitzing or dropping back into coverage. If Brady is going to beat us we might as well make him pick his ass up off the dirt after doing so...

BlackOp 01-16-2019 02:54 AM

Since 2009, NE is 4-6 when playing an opponent in the postseason that they played in the regular season.

Chiefs have given up 18 PPG at home and the Pats have averaged 21 PPG on the road...I'm not sure if NE fans are very good at math...but their road average is 1/2 of what they scored at home vs. KC. I think most of them havent quite comprehended the difference between playing at Arrowhead and at home in Foxborough. They wont get another game with 0 penalties...

Also..if there is a chance of snow on Saturday...how will this effect their travel day?

21 points isn't going to get it done against a KC team averaging 35 ppg.

Boss: I don’t know if we were sabotaged, but they weren’t working at first. The sideline was the worst place to be. They had the big heaters that everyone was trying to huddle around to stay warm.

The 4-6 record since 2009 has nothing to do with the game this upcoming Sunday.

Hello Chiefs fans, Patriots season ticket holder here.

Just my thoughts:
- As a Patriots fan, I'm nervous about the game. The Chiefs area great team and it is a tough challenge
- I don't know how the Chiefs are with the cold. As for the Patriots, I don't think the cold will have any negative effect on them, especially Tom Brady
- The regular season was last year and has no bearing on how either the Chiefs or the Patriots will play. Neither does the Patriots away record have any impact on this game. - The Patriots team that will take the field on Sunday is the team that we saw last Sunday against the Chargers
- The Patriots will be ready to play and will be well coached
- Nevertheless, I'm nervous about whether the Patriots can pull it off. I expect a close game that goes right to the end. If you are not nervous about this game as a Chiefs fan then your not paying attention.

Anyway, congratulations to the Chiefs on making the AFC Championship game!

Thanks, I would be nervous too if I were you. The game will remain close if the Pats can stay in their dink & dunk style and not turn it over. If they go down 14 and Brady tries to sling it, watch out because it could get ugly quick. Bottom Line is Mahomes is that good. Good Luck Sunday.

This! To think that any of us are over confident about this Sunday is a stupid presumption. That being said, we’re not the best offense in the league for nothing. Also, our defense is peaking at the perfect time. I had a Colts fan at work last week tell me “you guys haven’t played anyone like us”, and I said “you have no idea what you’re getting into”. Then we proceeded to beat that ass!

I don’t think this will be a cakewalk for either team. But, if it is a blowout, my money is on the Chiefs! I cannot wait for Sunday!

I re-watched the second half of the Colts game. Although the offense stalled on some key 3rd downs, what I liked was that they ate up tons of time before having to punt and they were able to establish a punishing run game that eventually broke the Colts spirit. Cam and Wylie might not be the best guards in the game and occasionally false start, but they have a nasty streak in them and they always hustle. With the brutal cold this week, having a punishing ground game will be important. Don't be surprised if Sherman gets some carries. DB's hate tackling big guys in sub freezing temps.

Why the hell does it matter what fans are saying regarding the perceived seriousness they take the next opponent? Unless that magically translates to the attitude the players have, this has no impact on the outcome of the game. I truly do not care what any of the Pats fans think or their perception of this game. Likewise, you shouldn't care if we are confident in our own team. The arguments we make on this board will play themselves out on Sunday. I can all but guarantee that the Chiefs are NOT overlooking the Pats.

I'm not nervous at all as I am on the "house money" mentality. I was a wreck last week, but since the bar in the playoffs for the Chiefs is so low, my expectations have already been eclipsed, especially for a first year starting QB. Anything more now is pretty much gravy.

I've been waiting all season for the Patriots to show up, in a total team effort, for a game and they finally did it last weekend. So, I'm picking NE to finish the deal and return to the SB.

That said, the Chiefs had a great season, with an exciting, proficient new QB, and should be a contender for years to come. But the Pats team that they faced in Week 6 is not the same team that they will be playing on Sunday.

We are ahead of schedule, so yeah its all house money right now.

Do I think the Patriots can win? Sure, in fact I would say they have a great shot. That being said the Chiefs Offensively are just a bad match up for the Patriots.

This game will come down to coaching, and not so much on the Pats defensive players playing great. But more along the lines of Bill putting the Pat's defense in the right position to stop the Chiefs on 3rd down.

Bill will have a backup plan for this.....like he does for every contingency!

That said, the Chiefs had a great season, with an exciting, proficient new QB, and should be a contender for years to come. But the Pats team that they faced in Week 6 is not the same team that they will be playing on Sunday.

You guys could very well win the game. But the Patriots aura of invincibility is over. We're not scared of you guys any more than any good team we could be playing the AFC Championship game. Vegas has you guys as underdogs -- because the game is at Arrowhead. All teams have good and bad games. Indy was supposed to be the hottest team in the league.

So you think this Chiefs team is the same team the Pats played in week 6? This same argument applies to every single team in the NFL.

The Colts team we just played last week was a wreck in week 6 but was the so called "hottest team in the NFL" when we played them. We saw what happened. We have been waiting for a TOTAL team effort all year long. That last two weeks I think we saw that. Christ, we put up 31 points without our stud QB having a passing TD. Our defense held the opposition to a garbage TD...I mean, if that isn't a total team effort, what is?

Here’s the thing:

We’ve also been waiting all year for the Chiefs to put together a total team effort. They did it in week 17 against the lowly Raiders. But then they did it again against a Colts team that the entire NFL touted as nearly invincible.

The Chiefs team the Patriots will see on Sunday is not the same team they saw in week 6.

Away from home in the playoffs (including the SB), when is the last good D performance by the Patriots?

This defense needs to attack. Odds are good they give up big plays blitzing or dropping back into coverage. If Brady is going to beat us we might as well make him pick his ass up off the dirt after doing so...

Colts did everything they could to blow that game.....but, Chiefs ain't playing the Colts this week.

Seriously, what was Luck thinking, holding the ball until the rush was in his face....then getting 5 or 6 passes blocked behind the LOS? The last time Brady got owned by a pass rush in a big game was when Dave Deguggliermo was coaching the Pats' O ine in 2015, so I don't see how the Chiefs are going to manage to disrupt Brady, with that defense. Oh, and good luck blitzing him.

Honestly,

The Chargers did EVERYTHING coaching wise the blow the game in NE. Who the hell plays Soft Zone vs Brady?

Oh and we sacked Brady 3 times this year WITHOUT Justin Houston...

I don't know when the LAST good D performance away from home occurred.....but I do know when the NEXT one is going to happen!

The HFA will help the Chiefs on Sunday, for sure. But unfortunately, it won't be enough, so I wouldn't be staking all my hopes on that if I were a Chiefs fan.

staylor26 01-16-2019 09:25 AM

Dan Patrick talking about Mike & Mike saying that Brady had a more impressive season than Mahomes considering his age (and weapons)....he agrees

I guess 5,000+ yards and 50+ TD’s for a 23 y/o just isn’t all that impressive

I don’t just want to win, I want to emabrrass these ****ing bundle of stickss

To be fair, Patriots haven't held Chiefs below 27 points in 5 years........ So it's no hope, its a trend.

Counting Super Bowls?

ATL did nothing in the 2nd 1/2 in SB 51

Does a game played in 2014 provide any valuable insights into what will happen on Sunday?

But the final score won't be handicapped to take into account old man Brady.

Well yes...........

7 teams have scored 40+ points on the Patriots since 2001. 3 of those 7 are from the Chiefs in last 5 years.

Soo........... Yeah that's kinda something to pay attention to.

Fair enough, to some degree. But their zone coverage had little to do with the NE run game eviscerating their D.

Also, in order to play man all day, you need to have the bodies and talent to cover all of the Pats' O weapons. Most teams don't have the talent to match up. Pay close attention Sunday to Edelman on his routes and you'll see what I mean.

Patriots won that game like they do most of their games, with offense. It's time to put to bed that BB will find a weakness in any QB. Tell that to Nick Foles, or Pat Mahomes, or even Alex Smith.

It's easy to run vs SOFT ZONE, when your DB's are 10 yards off recievers and Linebackers are dropping 10 yard back into their zones at snap it opens lanes because the MLB's split.

That being said we are not great vs the run, hell we are not great vs alot of things. The key for us is going to be getting up early on you so our rushers can attack the pocket.

And while I think Edelman is good, the Chargers tried to rally to tackle, the keys for beating the Patriots are simple but hard to execute. You have to bring pressure up the middle, and play man.

Mix in occasional Zone Blitz, but that it.

That means nothing to me.

What does mean something to me is improving on how we defend Hill.

I mean can you really defend him. Sure you can double him, but he just happens to possess something that you can't or is incredibly hard to defend... Speed.

Not to mention if you double him it leaves you weak on the edges for running.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-16-2019 09:38 AM

Forecast is looking a LOT better at the moment..

Pats fan here. First of all I want to congratulate you all on a great season. It will be a great game on Sunday. What the Pats try to do (usually successfully) is to take away the opponents biggest weapon(s). I expect that will mean double coverage at times on Hill and an emphasis on keeping Mahomes in the pocket. Patrick Chung will be left to cover Kelcie pretty much one on one.

Same thing happened 2014 pre-Hill. If you guys win, I expect to see a lot of highlights (lowlights) of our offensive line being manhandled. If you don't dominate the LOS, we will score a lot of points.

I have no idea if the NEP can stop Hill. He scares the crap out of me. The cat is deadly. I do have a good idea what they will try to do. Lots of mixed coverages, C1, C3, occasional blitz, Rush 2, 3. Rush 4, etc...

Y'all are scoring at least 4 TDs.

Are you assuming we would allocate Chung or our LBs to cover Hill? That won't happen.

Those were all early season wins... perhaps you've noticed that Pats start the season slow and improve week to week.
