Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:30 PM

Did that Avs player give a guy a kidney shot as that tussle was unfolding?

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:31 PM

I appreciated the cheering of those Lightning fans, even if I'm by default rooting for the Avs. I can appreciate excellence when I see it.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:33 PM

Now the Tampa guy gave the Avs player a solar plexus shot after the play. Hockey is fun to watch other that the stuff with the puck.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:35 PM

The puck spends a lot of time on the wall, and that's boring. They should make the wall have an opening like a pinball machine, where the puck goes in and then gets shot out at high speed in a random direction.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:36 PM

Touchdown Avalanche!

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:37 PM

That Tampa guy broke his stick. Now he's going to have to play the rest of the game with half a stick.

DaFace 06-26-2022 07:39 PM

Man. Feels like forever since the Avs had a lead.

Fish 06-26-2022 07:41 PM

Bang-a-rang! Avs lead!

Everything about Colorado is awesome except the broncos. So it's fine to root for a Colorado team as long as it doesn't have the broncos' history of rampant cheating.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:47 PM

Tampa would have scored there if that Avs player with all of the padding hadn't been standing in the way.

LMAO

And HE was mad after he tried slashing the guy's leg off and the Avalanche defender got his skate in the way.

The game needs new eyes on it for positive change.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:50 PM

They should have the regular goal and then a little goal that's maybe a foot wide inside it, where you get three points.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 07:58 PM

I just looked it up. Hockey has three periods, so we're two-thirds of the way through the game.

(Just in case other hockey novices are watching.)

Pretty much how I see it. I am not an Avs fan, but I would not be upset if they won. They are a good young team.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:30 PM

Colorado has their running game going strong to run down the clock.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:38 PM

That Tampa player nailed the goalie with the puck.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:40 PM

How long can a player hold the puck if he grabs it mid-air? He should just carry it to the goal, but I bet that's not legal.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:43 PM

We're 11/12ths of the way through the game now.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:45 PM

I'm no expert, but it seems like Tampa has no chance of winning unless they actually take a shot on goal at some point.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:46 PM

Two-minute warning.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:47 PM

We're 98 percent of the way through the game now.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:48 PM

Tampa needs to start using their timeouts if hockey has timeouts.

Rain Man 06-26-2022 08:49 PM

Colorado just won.

This has become a championship beer in recent years.

Started by putting one in the fridge for the Chiefs' first SB.
And then Kansas' NC.
And now tonight.

they have been showing up for games long before the Championships.

They are not a cool, Brady come to my team so I’ll be a fan thing. Kind of weird a hot weather hockey team has a loyal fan base. We took an Arrowhead South group there in a down year before the championships. They were passionate. Outside of the arena they had a lot of fan friendly amenities and activities. Us football fans were impressed.

Is there some rule in Denver that all hockey players have to have hot blonde wives? No brunettes? Redheads?

The team was built around speed. After speed, the second thing the organization looks for are guys with hot blond wives. Sakic thinks they have more power.

Very happy for Jared Bednar. Extremely underrated. Really challenged the core of this team to work as hard on defense as they do on offense over the last couple years, and it paid off. They absolutely shut Tampa down in the 3rd. Hope he finally gets the credit he deserves, he's one of the best in the league.

Yeah and they answered the bell several times this postseason... Frankie's 4-0 shutout was probably the biggest one prior to tonight, and of course beating the Lightning at their own game tops it all.

Any offense-first team has to prove they can win in the playoffs, and especially deep in the playoffs where you simply have to score 5 on 5 and have some grit and win grinding 2-1/3-2 types of games.

They won those games against the Blues, they won the 8-6 insanity types of games against the Oilers, and beat the best team in the league over the past few years at scoring a couple goals and holding a lead.

Sakic never panicked either, just plugged in some holes along the way that ended up making a huge difference when they needed the depth.

Yeah, there was little doubt who Landeskog was going to pass it to first after getting his moment with the Cup. Love the tradition of keeping the Cup for a day or three each and all of the pics and stories that come out of its trip.

Pretty crazy to think for the first half of my life, sports kind of sucked across the board, then the next decade was the Avalanche 2001 Cup and KU's 2008 NC (and a couple Final Fours)... then another 6 years and bam, 2014/2015 Royals, 4 straight AFCCGs and a SB win, and now a KU NC and Avalanche Cup in a matter of 3 months.

One thing that always gets me regarding hockey playoffs, which that last video really highlights..

These guys can get so angry and shove and punch and smash each other in the face for months worth of games. But yet almost 100% of the time, after the game when they get to the teams lining up and shaking hands, everyone is super respectful and polite. Lots of respect that you do no see in other sports. Hockey rules.

He seems like a really good dude. When you think about how far he's come since he got hammered underage got his foot stuck between the pedals in a golf cart and ripped his knee up it's cool to see everything come full circle. He's been a rock for the Avs through some pretty bleak periods. He deserves it, and you can clearly see how much it means to him. Feels good when good things happen to guys like him.
