And **** dude I'm happy as hell we won convincingly yesterday. But I can see that type of win isn't going to happen every week.

Well that's at least good to see. Like dude said, every game is different. KC jumped up multiple TDs on an inept offensive opponent... so they coasted the rest of the way.

Have to figure that won't happen vs Dallas.. so let's see what happens. All these QBs are throwing gobs of yardage often because they are in dogfights.. I'd rather us not have to be in dogfights.. but if KC is? I won't assume shit on how well our offense copes.

I think he was trying to say the jags couldn't stop the run and that's why we didn't pass much.

I agree.

You are missing the point. Let me homer it up for you. Trent Green could throw for 175 and beat you like Alice did this week. Trent Green could also dial is up and throw for 350 yards and beat you in a shoot out on a consistant basis.

Alice has shown he can do one. He has NEVER shown the ability to do two. If you want to go from beating the shit to avg teams to beating the Ravens and Pack you'll will have to eventually be able to win in a shoot out.

That's all anyone is saying.

If he dials it up to 300-350 a handful of times this year and wins. Then I'm all in on Alex.

Us? JFC dude...

Hell I think we have a good shot at beating Dallas. But I really feel like what we did in the passing game yesterday isn't going to cut it. And by listening to Reid at least he understands it

My fault. I'll never again give an example when passing yards can be a good thing.

This is a great post. Sums up my thoughts as well.

what's more likely, a qb throwing for three hundred or more and scoring 28 points

Or a qb throwing for 150 and the team scoring 28 points?

depends on the defenses and ST... EXACTLY why we LOST in 2003.what were TG's stats for that game?

comparing offenses is nothing but stats.

And dammit Stevie you have been in enough threads where I was defending Cassel to know I'm not just trying to hate here.

I want better, if Smith shows he's that I'm all in. If not I'm going to call it like it is.

Yesterday was very average, in comparison to the rest of the league passing wise. Smith had quite a few opportunities in the second half to make plays more often than not he either didn't gage the play or the play that was made wasn't good enough. 7 straight punts iirc. From Reid's hand picked perfect qb. Against a terrible team

Yes! And YAC is often dependent on what???

Also you do at least acknowledge there will games there year where Alex is going to need to throw for big yards for whatever reason right?

And I will stand right there and stick up for Alex if that was the case and Smith had played as well as to be expected. (look up my history with Cassel again, I didn't expect much...)

its scary to think what green would have put up points wise yesterday against that d, with our current line. Alex had a ton of time most of the day. And with the same attempts. Alex threw the ball quite a bit while we were obviously in vanilla burn the clock mode

I'll give Alex some props for his ball placement on most passes

Of course it does, but it depends a ton more on those things when your QB only passes for 16 or 18 TD's total all year.

So why fight the fact that a ballin ass QB is the way to go?

Chronic 09-09-2013 06:24 PM

Alex Smith is ass
