LSU gathering 15 million to dump Miles is dumb.

I mean for starters, it will cost 15 million to buy him out. 15 ****ing million for a guy who might retire before long.

They seem salty because Les Miles can't knock off Nick Saban frequently. Nevermind the list of coaches that can would be non-existent.

Yeah the current losing streak is bad, but the talent isn't quite there.

Les Miles to MU? They don't have the money to pay for him and his entire staff. Zero chance.

Any interest at all in Ken Niumatalolo?

Dude always seems to field competitive to good teams year in and year out at Navy of all places...only downside is the triple option. Same with Troy Calhoun.

**** no. Triple option is a gimmick that wouldn't hold up in the SEC.

Also, cut blocks are for pussies.

I'd love that, but I'm happy to keep him coaching my midshipmen too.

I wonder how Chip Kelly would fair at Mizzou? Looks like he's about done in Philly

Hahaha I was thinking that too

Didn't he get stomped the few times he played the sec?

I'm fine with this.

Fuente is a better fit at Mizzou anyhow.

Here's a blurb about the hunt.

Quote:

In the interest of continuity from Gary Pinkel’s staff, there’s internal support from players and some school officials for first-year defensive coordinator Barry Odom.

That’s still unlikely, those close to the program’s search tell me. They believe the more likely scenario would be the 38-year-old Odom going to Memphis to take over for his former boss, Fuente.

If he isn’t in play at Virginia Tech, Fuente remains a very logical fit at Mizzou. The school’s deputy AD, Wren Baker, was at Memphis until this past summer. Like Fuente, he’s also from Oklahoma.

Bowling Green’s Dino Babers would be a fun fit in the SEC West, running the Baylor-style tempo system to further upset Nick Saban and Bret Bielema. Mizzou once reeled in Pinkel from the MAC -- and more specifically from Toledo -- so perhaps we aren’t considering rising star Matt Campbell enough for the position.

The story says that Houston has OK'd a raise to $3MM a year for him. I wonder if he's staying?

Odom would be the best hire. We would keep Coach Kul as DC, and our defense would keep rolling. He would need to fix the offense, but that's it.

This isn't a rebuild, so why bring in a new hire that might want to do just that.

I would be fine with Odom, but it's not a guarantee that Kuligowski stays even if Odom does. It's probably more likely that Kul stays if Odom is hired than others, but it's not a certainty.

Overall, I really think that this is a good time for the program to transition. They hit their ceiling with Pinkel, they haven't decayed, and he was too loyal to get rid of Henson and Ricker.

Flushing the offensive staff could pay tremendous dividends alone.

I'm not old enough to remember the good ol days, but I remember the dark times. That naturally leads me to thinking we may have hit our ceiling as a program with Pinkel, not just that he hit his ceiling.

After thinking of the possibilities, I would lean towards the safe route, and seeing if Odom can simply keep this thing rolling. Keep us in the 7 to 11 win range every season, competing for division titles every 2-3 years. Hopefully we win a Conf Championship one of these years.

Give Odom 4-5 years, if we're in the toilet after that time frame, there will always be hot coaching candidates. There are every year - and maybe that year there won't be 4-5 blue blood schools looking for coaches.

kepp 11-25-2015 10:53 AM

Hire Odom along with an entirely new offensive staff. I'd be on board with that.

One of Kul or Odom will be gone next year. Those two have a chilly relationship, from what I hear.
