I don't see enough to make me think that Odom is ready to vw a freshman coach in the SEC. That's a really hard task.
Gunther probably wasn't the best exact comparison, but it seems the best argument for him has been maintain status quo. That's a decent stretch.

You're right that it's not a slam dunk hire. There are risks with all these guys, and it's clear that Herman is holding out for when Texas likely opens up next year (which is probably a smart financial decision and makes him look like a little less of a mercenary).
Babers is too old and although BG's offense is great, I think a lot of that is due to having a RS Sr. QB like Matt Johnson in the fold. Their recruiting hasn't been as good as one would hope, even after the last two successful years.
Ruhle has had all of one successful season and it's hard to determine if that's the result of him legitimately building a program or just luck, as most coaches in CFB can easily have a good team every 3-4 years if they aren't in a major conference.
Fuente is probably headed to VT.
Matt Campbell might be the guy. He's young and he seems to have done a good job in recruiting at Toledo, according to the services.
And I want no part of Miles or Richt, who will cost a ton and who are over the hill.
I don't envy Rhoades. I also know that "Mizzou" is likely to happen, which would mean us hiring some shit****, like Rhoads of ISU.
