While there is some of that, I don’t get the lack of excitement. This is far and away, by a thousand miles, the most interesting royals team in the post WS core era. So basically the last 6 years. You have a guy who could be a super star if he keeps improving, a possible Ace who if he also keeps developing would be our first home grown guy in forever, the ultimate analytics hero in Vinny P who has all sorts of interesting statistical comparisons, and a bunch of guys like Melendez, waters, and Massey who are all going to play and all have some upside as well.

We all still excited boys?

lol

Before the season started, I thought this would be a 65-70 win type team. I wasn't expecting much from them because of our lack of pitching and no depth in the lineup. BUT...I never expected this to be an epic shit show like it has been. They are currently on pace to lose nearly 120 games this season. The R's record for season losses is 106. They are going to have to play at a +.420 clip over the last 90 games of the season to miss that "record".

#28 in OPS, #28 in ERA

#29 ranked farm system!

Soon, some of the blame has to be shared with the new regime, but holy shit was Dayton Moore terrible at his job. Unbelievably bad.

All of the above may be true, but Dayton assembled a team of good men, and that is the ultimate reward.

How soon until the new regime deserves blame? Unfortunately, I think it will take quite awhile for it to be fair to blame the new regime. Given this will be the first draft without Moore, and there is little to build upon in the organization, I don't see much chance for this regime to show improvement in the next 3 years. I would not mind if Sherman cleans house before then, but I wouldn't expect the team to be any sort of competitive in the next 3 years no matter who is leading the way.

I think the farm system will take a jump up in ratings is what the chatter is on Twitter.

This is not a "new regime"

Piccollo was promoted and they hired a new Manager and pitching coach..people like Lonnie Goldberg are still out there. They didn't clean house in the front office, it's the same regime with a promoted underling.

BWillie 06-20-2023 10:43 AM

Jorge Soler has a .923 OPS this year.

Go Royals!

And I would argue he wasn't really promoted. He was the GM when Dayton got fired and is still the GM today.

I'm sure Moore still made most of the decisions but you don't promote a dude who was with Moore for 20 years an expect radical change. That's why the new regime talk is laughable.

Also find it questionable why a person who was in the front office along with someone supposedly as well-respected as Dayton Moore as long as he was never got a shot elsewhere
