WVU goes down at home. This league is nuts.

Here's an interesting assessment as to why Diallo spends a lot of time on the pines:

Yes, he's a complete mess. If you just watch him when he's in, you see that he makes a mistake on virtually every possession.

Baylor holds on, so they are now the surprising B12 leader.

No one is saying he's not liability at this stage of the season.

If it wasn't Diallo and just another freshmen, that would be fine and dandy.

What I've been saying is that without accepting those liabilities in the short term, you are not going to get that huge upside come tournament time.

You can find posts in here during the non-conference schedule where we are up 15-20 points and in complete control of the game and he wasn't playing.

I know most on here think you are getting a 2nd year of Diallo. I don't. The NBA drafts for potential and are willing to allow the guy a year or two to mature. He will show enough by the tournament that some NBA team will take a chance on him.

Well, so much for us being out of the Big 12 race lol. Crazy league.

Baylor has had the easiest Big 12 schedule so far outside of playing their first game at the Phog. They have a tough road ahead of them. They won't last long at the top obviously.

I think it's much easier to learn in practice. Practice is also what gets you minutes during the game. I don't understand why this is such a difficult concept to grasp.

Bill Self can't stop the action when Diallo ****s up during the game to explain the mistakes he's committing at that moment.

Cue the 99th year in a row College BBall fans have claimed it is a "down year".

I don't disagree with anything you're saying. It's just very hard to play a guy when he makes costly mistakes on virtually every possession in games that matter. I can't blame Self for not doing that.

What about these games? Why didn't he play more?

Probably because he was making mistakes all the time, which tends to lose leads and piss coaches off.

Diallo played 16, 18, and 10 minutes (because he picked up 5 fouls quickly) in the 3 real blowouts that KU had in non-con (Loyola, Holy Cross, Montana) after he was allowed to play by the NCAA, though. The Oregon State and UC Irvine were close games until the 2nd half. So I'm not sure all these opportunities you're talking about really existed. The few times they did, he either got his chance or faltered so badly (5 fouls in 10 minutes) that he couldn't even stay on the court.

There were several teams last year who were better than any team this year. Kentucky, Duke, and Wisconsin would be 1-3 this year.

I get your point but there are down years in sports. Last year was a great crop of elite teams. The top 4 would be easy faves this year (Arizona incl). Gonzaga, ND and Virginia probably would join them. The best FR last year played on the best teams. The best this year play for LSU + Marquette further diluting talent.

UNC 2016 is the only team who has the type of talent to go head to head with those squads
