He used that one instance to justify his claim. I responded by saying it was practically the same with Alex Smith that when his release or status as a FA was all but certain, he also got no calls or inquires. So based on that logic, Smith also isn't good. But whatever I guess I have to spell EVERYTHING out for people to understand anything.

Teams could not contact Alex Smith or his agent in 2013 because any team would have been charged with tampering.
By trading for Smith, the Chiefs insured they'd have a legitimate starting QB in 2013 that could run their offense. Had he gone to free agency, there most certainly would have been other teams interested in his services (Raiders, Cardinals, Bucs, Bills, etc.).
