BTW, I realise well that Pioli "has the right". And that a 2nd round pick could be a much more valuable asset than an aging TE (but the odds are very debatable). But Tony is not the problem with the Chiefs.

Player loyalty. We have won jack shit with Tony. He is old culture. The only way to change the culture of a franchise is to get rid of the losers of the previous culture.

If the Colts can let Marvin Harrison go, then the Chiefs can sure as hell get rid of Tony.

For those saying TG doesn't fit Haley's offensive scheme...His scheme is built around his players, and will feature whatever talent he has. If its two WR's like Bolden and Fitzgerald, then Haley will scheme with that in mind. If your talent lies within Bowe and TG, then you can BET Haley will be scheming around them.

To say that Gonzalez should be traded for a lousy late second round pick because "Haley's offense doesn't use the TE" is ridiculous. If that were true, he should be fired right now. Haley WILL USE GONZALEZ...PERIOD.

That'a bit much, and not exactly the most factual statement I've ever read. I don't have any problem trading him, but 55 just seems like a very weak deal.

Now, if someone were to produce a list of players taken between 52 and 57 in the last 10 years and the overall output was good, I might warm up to the deal.

He is a 34 year old play maker at the end of his career.

I would take the 2nd in a heart beat. From there we at least have a shot at filling major gaps with players like:

"ZIGGY" HOOD, DE, MISSOURI
DUKE ROBINSON, OL, OKLAHOMA
JAMON MEREDITH, OT, SOUTH CAROLINA
DERRICK WILLIAMS, WR/KR, PENN ST.

Cottam will be just fine at TE as our starter.
