Pioli and Cassel had to talk this out so that Cassel understands when we draft Sanchez, it is just to hold him hostage until we get draft picks. You dont want your real QB to get pissed off because he thinks your drafting a new QB. Anyone understand?

I don't get the timing of this....makes zero sense unless a trade partner wanted a deal in place. Does that happen?

I bet he would do just as well as Cassell did if he would have been a Patriot last yr Bigtime risky move on a backup QB, may pan out for you but it's still a bigtime risk.

Betcha he wouldn't, but it's really impossible to say.

This next half hour is going to be brutally long.

Exactly, forget about whether you like Cassel or not. This is about the terrible timing of the information leak.

why risk it, stupid as hell.

Well... I'd rather pay him a guaranteed $36 for 6 years if he is a bust than pay him $14.5 this year and watch him bolt to Washington for $10/10 yrs next year if he plays like he did last year. You lose 'only' $22m in the mix which can be spread out over the next few years against the cap or the Chiefs strike gold at a reasonable starting qb price.

I don't put much faith in contracts, if a QB is good enough, he will and can get a contract rewritten whenever he chooses, it ain't right but it is true

Again fair - but what we lack in talent and wins we make up for in salary cap. At least we are using it to try to lock up a qb those in power believe in for the long run as opposed to signing demorrio williams.

R8RFAN 04-25-2009 01:36 PM

lets just hope the Donks are forced to have a QB competition of Orten vs Chris Simms..
Them Donks are talking crap about Cassell on that cesspool called the mange

I will give you this, if he is for real and performs similar to the way he did for the Cheatriots, you got a steal...

He's not worth that much, imo. We'll now see if he can really play with the same supporting players as the Pats gave him.

I am not saying he is not good, I just want to see him play with the players the likes of those the Chiefs and the Raiders have fielded recently.

I also will say Jamarcus will have to step up his game bigtime this year if we can snag a prime time WR

Ultra Peanut 04-25-2009 01:41 PM

That is a lot of guaranteed dollars for someone who projects out to being pretty average.
