Signing skill position players to their last contract is ****ing stupid.

That's still pretty shitty.

No definitive #1 WR, also rans/unproven at TE, one definitive playmaker at RB.

If Dwayne Bowe doesn't turn into a 1200-1400 yard a year guy this year, he probably never will, and as such, can never be considered more than a really good #2 WR.

Absolutely. I'm hoping we can find a bargain in the draft and get a guy that could develop into a 1. I'm not sure Bowe has the heart or the work ethic to do it.

Eh Green Bay has had one of the lower payrolls for awhile and have done just fine with little to no FA activity. The current regime needs to do better at drafting and developing talent or get the **** out.

This team has been doing it for as long as I can remember, so it seems to be a fine process to some because of that.

The difference is Green Bay acually drafts good players.

When the Chiefs draft like Green Bay, that'll be fine. And actually when Green Bay had the lowest payroll in the NFL, they went out and paid Charles Woodson.

Yeah, hence the 2nd sentence that states draft and develop better or get the **** out. As for Charles Woodson, Ted Thompson was blasted for making that signing until Woodson started to actually deliver like expected. There's no ****ing point in making it rain during Free Agency until they can do that right as said FA will just be surrounded with shitty players and look like a bust of a signing.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-07-2010 09:52 PM

In my dream of dreams, I'm hoping that our next three 1st rounders are

2010: Eric Berry
2011: A.J. Green
2012: Blaine Gabbert

I'm sure that we'll end up with:

2010: Brian Bulaga
2011: Julio Jones
2012: Some piece of **** QB from Fresno State b/c Pat Hill is from "The Tree".

With Woodson they had money to spend and they took a shot, the Chiefs right now have money to spend and they are busy playing with each others assholes.

Dansby, Rolle are different. I can't fathom why we didn't make a play for some of those guys.

But it's not like Chambers or Jones are a reason for that. We need stopgaps at those two positions, unless there are some studs that you can pick up. I haven't seen any of those studs in this free agency period at WR or RB.

BryanBusby 03-07-2010 09:56 PM

Well, this is pretty much what we're going to get until the Chiefs have a team that doesn't make you consider washing down a bottle full of Tyenol with a drano smoothie.

Even then, they won't go out and sign players like Peppers.

E: Dansby would like complete ass being surrounded with players like Corey Mays and Ron Edwards.

I recall on a few occasions it has worked for this team in the past. It all depends, sometimes those type of signings can work in your favor and sometimes they don't. But Id be content with adding a few veteran players if it meant productivity for this team. I wouldn't see anything wrong with that at all.

Not really. What this team is used to is paying too much for shitty, 2nd-tier free agents like Kendrell Bell and Shawn Barber. These guys weren't past their prime. They just weren't very good.

That's why stopgaps don't bother me. I'd rather an older veteran that you know will only play for 2-3 seasons until you find someone better than the franchise thinking a guy like Kevin Walter is some kind of a long-term answer.

These are only stopgaps until you can draft someone better. Of course, that's going to depend on the Chiefs to draft better. We'll see if that actually happens.

As long as by "good player" you mean good role players.

Because spending big money on big name free agents when you're a team that sucks as badly as the Chiefs is not the way to build a team from the ground up.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-07-2010 10:00 PM

Who in the god **** thinks Kevin Walter is a long term answer?
