Jesus - how can this team be this terrible? It doesn't make a lick of sense. There is too much talent on the team and it's not like they're rolling over and dying like the Ken Harvey days. When you get pitching, you get no hitting. When you get hitting, you get no pitching. It's a team that simply knows how to lose.

You have a ton of talent and I shit you not - Ned Yost is a good manager. There's no reason for the Royals to be anywhere near this terrible.

You guys have one cursed goddamn franchise.

It's just a perfect storm for losses right now. Even when the Royals play a "perfect" game, it takes one little thing to create a loss. With all the hitters pressing, the margin for error is zero. They'll break out of it eventually, but by then, it'll be too late.

Kansas City is what it is. We are Chiefs and Royals. Outsiders may pity us but we will never give up. When you root for these two organizations you form a pact that others will never understand.

Like I said, we're Kansas City.

That would be cool if they tried to improve in the offseason? Maybe a prince fielder, maybe a Pujols? Maybe resign Melky?

Moving Melky for starting pitching made sense with Cain ready. It hasn't worked out yet. Go figure.

This. I've lived in SF for 5 years and LA for 11 and I still only really care so much it hurts about the Chiefs, Royals and Tom Watson. I tried to become a Giants fan and Angels fan. It just doesn't happen. It's like changing your family or something. Impossible.

I remember crying after that Chambliss HR and not really knowing why at the time.....i was just sad because the rest of my family was in tears.

Whats funny about watching that was seeing fans storm the field. Do fans still get that excited about baseball anymore???

I'm pretty sure I cried too. A few times in the late 70's and again at the end of the '80 WS.

Yes fans still get that excited there's just more security now heh.

The MLB tonight crew on MLB network just made a point to take a couple minutes barbecuing the Royals as a team that simply has no idea how to win...in the middle of a cut-in of the Mariners/Indians game.

The Royals really had nothing to do with the discussion, but Larry Bowa and Mitch Williams both got a kick out of pointing out just how green the Royals are. Williams asked "So is Yost teaching these kids to win?"....Bowa sat there for a second and just says "Well they aren't winning right now."

My mom cried. My friend's mom locked herself in the bathroom for an hour.

My mom had met George Brett in Westport and thought he was an insufferable ass. When he hit the homer in '80 I remember her screaming "I love you George Brett!" at the top of her lungs.

Dane Iorg's "little looper into right field" is my greatest sports memory by a long shot.

Oh yeah, I also remember exactly where I was for the pine tar game.

You aren't helping. It must be easy to be a Cardinals fan.
