Just upgraded my PC for the cost of a PS4. i5-4670k and mobo. Excited to finally be able to play CPU intensive games I've had to run at horrible settings with low FPS before.

My God...

You have no idea how good it feels to go from barely passing minimum requirements to passing recommended settings on every game on Can I Run It.

Let me know how that works out when Sony stops making games for the PS3 and you have to upgrade to a PS4 to keep gaming on a console.

I'd much rather pay an extra $250 upfront and build something like http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2AZqn than buy a PS4 or Xbone.

If you can afford to spend that extra money upfront, there really is no reason to own both unless there are exclusives you just absolutely must play, but there's usually much better alternatives that are similar to that game on PC.

I plan on buying a PS4 anyway.

And if your argument hinges on saying "you don't really want to play game X - there's a game just like it on PC that's better" you don't have much of an argument.

The simple fact is that there are games that only exist on console and some that only exist on PC. If I want to play all of them, and not just some cheap facsimile, I should own both.

And I do own both.

I haven't upgraded video card drivers in over a year. I've been PC gaming for over 20 years, and I've never heard anyone who considered upgrading drivers to be a serious drawback to PC gaming. You're being overdramatic.

How about this then?

Diablo 3, which I have played on PC and console, is flat out SUPERIOR on console.

Since when did PC gamers become such bigots? When they started to feel like they're pastime was dying?

I dont?

Looks like a better argument than someone who thinks upgrading a driver is some mind twisting experience that only a Ph.D. can figure out, and PC games crashing is some every day occurrence that prevents a person from ever actually playing a game.

That's ok.

By the time Diablo 3 was released on console no one gave a **** about it because it was the biggest pos hack'n'slash to come out in a long time.

People on PC just moved on to PoE. How's that compare on console?

Why do you think it's flat out superior?

Well, if you knew anything about D3, they totally ****ed it up. Then, for console release they decided to try an experiment. Everything in the console version is INFERIOR except for the loot 2.0 rules. In fact, console would never have worked in the original D3 loot model because of limitations of consoles/online functionality. So yes, the experiment worked, and the PC version will be similar starting in April. And the reason it is superior is because of gameplay design decisions, and not that 'console rocks man!'

And pastime dying? You have got to be kidding me! No, its because people have been writing that line for the past 10 years while PC has gained more market share, and is plain better, yet we have to listen to people don't know what they are talking about take potshots at us~ Kind of like preachers shitting on scientists. The reality is, the people saying 'your pastime is dying' and OMG CONSOLES ARE BETTER, really just don't.have.a.clue.

On top of that, you came in the thread, what did you expect? Thread title explains it all. I started this thread so that people wouldn't shit in the console threads, and have for the most part, done that. So don't be so mad.

You have it all wrong, that is the console players argument, that they have 5 exclusives per year that PC doesn't. What you are thinking of is the retort for that, that PC has hundreds or thousands of exclusives every year that console does not have, as a counter-point. This does not concede all of the other valid reasons why PC gaming is better.

Re-read the thread. The ONLY argument that console has is that you can pop the game in like a zombie then play, and that takes less time then installing a PC game and pressing play. :/ once you are past initial setup, it is all the same. GG Console, you saved 5 minutes of time all while stripping all peripheral functionality, on overpriced, outdated hardware, which in its own right, IS A ****ING PC!

LOL!

Ill just put this here...

http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/...vs-console.htm

Quote:

The CyberpowerPC Steam Machine is $499. The Xbox One is $499. The PS4 is $399. Even at $100 more than the PS4, the specs of the Steam Machine are obviously more powerful given their scalability; and given the open-source Linux OS, you can add whatever apps you want, for free. There is also no fee for playing online unlike the consoles.

The CyperpowerPC Steam Machine beats the PS4 and Xbox One in specs and price, especially comparing what you're getting in the package for the same price as Microsoft's offering and for $100 more than Sony's offerings.
read the full article for the breakdown of why its faster (more than twice as fast)

Funny, you can build a purpose built gaming machine for the same amount as a new console, that performs better. WHO KNEW? Oh, me. That's who~

The control scheme is smoother, the right analog stick "dodge" doesn't even exist on PC…

No AH, Loot 2.0…

The only thing PC has is better graphics, which for an isometric game like Diablo really isn't anything special.

htismaqe 01-15-2014 01:26 PM

Again, I have both. I play both.

You guys are hilarious though.

I didn't like D3 at all, despite loving the first 2. So I'm not arguing, I was just curious.

But regarding control scheme, you can configure your controls however you want on PC. You can even plug in a console controller if you want.
