No, it's doing what you can to win a game. And all of the best players in the NBA (LeBron, Durant, Ginobili, Harden) are very adept at it.

Don't speak for me, either. I would not be defending it. It's juvenile bullshit.
You would absolutely love Marcus Smart if he played for KU. Everyone would. Just an incredible, intense, competitive athlete, Wiggins could learn from his example.

Maybe, it was Murphy -- I thought it was a charge, that's all.

Smart tried to take a charge after that. Didn't get the call.

Ceej 01-18-2014 05:59 PM

I never understood the whole, "you'd like him if he played for your team" talk.

He isn't, nor will he ever be.

Smart is a great ball player. But, his antics are what irk me. He will fit in quite nicely in the NBA.

Attempting to deceive the officials is cheating. I don't care what level it takes place. Flopping is flopping.

Irony of ironies -- if it were a soccer game, he would be retroactively suspended for it. Leagues review dives in the box and suspend players for simulation.

And if I fed you a shit sandwich, you'd eat it up. See how stupid it is to tell people what they would or would not do? **** that guy. Play the game straight up.

Absolutely not, I'd hate it even more... spin it whichever way, I wish the flopping shit could be taken out of every sport, regardless of the team.

Yeah, that's why the NBA sucks.

I'd love all of those things... not the flopping.

Ceej 01-18-2014 06:04 PM

I can't remember KU having someone who flopped to will the team to a win. Please. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank God.

Being Embiid.

The one that got me was the Flagrant 1 on Selden, when Smart put on the acting show. Officials didn't do a thing about the Smart's backhand to Selden's crotch that happened at the same time.

Everybody does it. Some are just better at it than others. Smart is one of those guys and it's going to pay major dividends when he gets to the pros (just as it's helping OSU right now).

A lot of the most talented soccer players in the world dive all over the place too. They get a lot of calls (and a lot of goals) for their team doing it.

No, you hate him because he's on a rival. Which, I suppose, is understandable. He's the main impediment to KU winning a 10th straight title. But it's really beneath you to continue to whine like a bitch about this.

Except it doesn't. It's objectively far better to watch than NCAA basketball.

That doesn't make it right. This is stuff we all learned in kindergarten.

1) OSU isn't a rival.

2) You're only defending him because you like being "that KU guy." You know, the one that pretends to be fair and impartial, but really you just like taking a contrary position because you know it ruffles feathers. I mean, right now, you're just trolling me by attributing motivations and thoughts to me that do not exist.

3) The only bitch in here is the one that refuses to call a flopping spade a spade.

Ceej 01-18-2014 06:09 PM

I'm not sure this argument is ever going to end.

Smart is a great basketball player. But, the dude flops like Greg ****ing Paulus.

I try to get into it every year, because the talent is unbelievable.... but, the game isn't really about that when guys are flopping and just trying to get to the line..... and seeing the insanely talented do that crap is even more annoying.

You forgot yelling, "HEY!" driving to the basket in hopes a foul is called.

Spare me. You either do everything you can to win the game or you don't.

And then they go on to score more goals and be the best players on the field for their teams (partially because they can deceive refs as effectively as they do).

They have been since last year when Smart willed his team to victory in AFH. Should have been obvious from the way the game was played today.

No, I've loved watching Marcus Smart play since he entered the league two years ago. A tremendous NCAA basketball player and NBA prospect. I respect the hell out of his ability and the way he carries himself out there (even as I actively root against his team to lose). Everyone here surely knows that about me. Has nothing to do with trolling or taking a contrary position.

If you can get away with flopping in basketball, go for it. Like everything else, it's a skill. And all of the world's best players are very good at it. So is Marcus Smart.
