Signing him is one less guy you have to replace

We don’t really have that many holes next year anyway. We’re at the point to where we ain’t needing 8 draft picks

The tranquills and Mike edwards are available every year for a couple million bucks

That’s not the issue.

Sign your elite players, especially when they’re young and play positions of importance.

Agree. As much as I love Sneed and hope we can keep him, I just don't know that they'll be able to. He has a rare athletic profile and talent combo inside/out that is tough to replicate in the league right now. I don't see how a press team doesn't pay him 20 per and be happy to do so.

Pretty much my thoughts. I could see a team like Carolina or Houston paying him big money.

If the Chiefs wanted to keep him, they needed to have signed him last offseason.

THIS!

Just like in this off season, if you are going to give 2nd contracts to Creed, Smith and Bolton this off season is the time to do it to help spread out the cap hits.

You can essentially buy out their remaining years of the contract, add the extension to the end and spread it out.

Alot of guys don't wanna do that though, they're gonna wanna hit the market it possible.

I love when I read the first page of a thread, skip to last page, and the conversation hasn't progressed at all. Totally seamless. Real time saver.

Except like literally half of your defense is un-signed for 2024.

and you have no LT.

They've drafted Chenal to replace the LB's that leave, and there's vets on the market like Mike Edwards every year.

This is again, why you can't keep elite defenses together. It's too much about the whole unit than individual guys.

So keep the elite guys and fill in around them best you can.

O.city 11-20-2023 08:07 AM

They've drafted to replace everyone that's leaving this year. I thought we were all about draft and development here?

Danna is gone. You've got FAU and Thompson.

Gay is gone. You've got Chenal.

Sneed is gone. You've drafted a ton of Db's over the past few years.

O.city 11-20-2023 08:10 AM

"We have to trade Chris Jones, we only have 5 draft picks next year".

Yeah, we had 7 last year and only 1 of them plays any snaps of significance.

Sassy Squatch 11-20-2023 08:23 AM

What has Chris Jones done recently to warrant even close to what he's asking for? If he actually plays elite down the stretch then sure, maybe revisit it, but at his current level of play and asking price he can go piss up a rope.

I think it would actually work out better in that it might lower the asking price.

No chance he's getting 30. I'd imagine it's more in the 25 range.

Sassy Squatch 11-20-2023 08:28 AM

LMAO You're delusional if you actually believe that. He and his agents have already shown their hand.
