I would still like to keep him this year. 3Peat.

That is kind of where I am at. Unless we get a first round pick. Let him play on the tag and at worst get a 3rd comp pick when he leaves next year.

we have to trade him, we have no money

I’m bored and want news about the Chiefs

Their 46 feels more realistic.

Feels like we would be the ones getting fleeced if we gave up LJ + 32 for 15, but I'll admit I'm no first round value afficionado, either.

46 wouldn't be enough, imho.

Agreed. A lot of people keep saying Sneed wouldn't play on the tag, but I bet he would. $19 million is a shit ton of money, especially for a guy who was only a 4th round pick. Plus, he doesn't strike me as the type who would sit out.

I know the Chiefs want to do right by him, but damn it I want to keep him. At least for one more season. With his play style, there would be risks for him playing under the tag but that's the name of the game. If we're only getting a 2nd anyway, just let him go next year and take the 3rd round comp pick.

Now if the bidding gets intense and we can land a 1st rounder, I might change my tune.

I don't know how this exactly works, but if we don't find a trade partner, can we just remove the tag?

In what world would we be getting fleeced lol?

Trading our 1st and 2nd would get us around pick 19-20...we'd probably have to give that up plus Sneed to even get them to think about it.

We could, but that might be career suicide for a GM to let a player of Sneed's caliber walk away while getting zero compensation for him. Veach has money in the bank with the Clarks, but still....

That tag number is an albatross for a CB, I don't care who it is...you can't keep Sneed on it, sign Jones, and fill the other holes we have.

Something has to give.

Just feels like a lot to give up considering what Sneed could potentially bring back in a trade. All depends on who they're targeting, of course.

Yeah, it's like being claimed on waivers. Any team can claim a player off of another team's practice squad. I think they have to keep them on their 53, though or they lose their rights to the player.

I have a vague remembrance of a player choosing to stay on a teams practice squad instead of going to another teams 53. I'm old and it's kind of foggy though or maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. Most players want the pay raise but I could see a guy like Pennel sitting tight if it's possible.

Edit: I googled and here's the answer from AI.

Players on an NFL practice squad cannot stop themselves from being claimed by another team if that team wants to sign them to their active roster. However, if a player is offered a contract by another team, they can decide not to sign it and remain on their current practice squad.

Vikings have #11 & #42

Jaguars have #17 & #48
Falcons have #8 & #43
Colts have #15 & #46

It would be my preference not to trade him to an AFC team. I like being in Super Bowls.

I'm pretty sure you were right originally, practice squad players don't have to go to another team if they don't want to. It's not like waivers, they're more like semi-free agents.

You're going to be upset when we only get a second rounder for Sneed.

I'm hoping for as low a 2nd as we can get and another top 100 pick.
