Is this the time where the media attempts to create a narrative...like the Chiefs had too much time off and the Texans are red hot? Or the Texans will be motivated to avenge Tank Dell? Or they just played KC and will know how to game plan this time around and the Arrowhead noise wont effect them? Pressure of a 3-peat and Houston is playing with house money...

It'll be funny watching them try to manipulate this match up into something it isnt...

the chargers had no quick passing game to answer the pressure. Their whole passing offense was built around long play action passes and they didnt have the time to execute them against Houston. The Chiefs passing game will be a much more difficult matchup.

They also have Roman as their OC. His offense is predicated on running the ball successfully. They weren’t doing that and as such the Texans could just pin their ears back and attack Herbert.

yea the chargers really didnt have the pieces to play the style they want to. They want to run the ball and throw it deep with play action, but they have a shitty IOL, no legit back, and no legit deep threat.

Regular season Arrowhead noise < Playoffs Arrowhead noise.

Stroud isn't going to know whether to shit or wind his watch.

Texans just waived Dionte Johnson. So were looking at basically the same O we played last time. Just more prepared to not have Tank Dell.

The best way to beat Houston is to force them to throw the ball. And I expect that’s what we’ll do. Houston has been caught in that Miami trap (and what we experienced with tyreek) where they haven’t figured out how to adapt to deep coverage. Their biggest weapon and these days their lone passing weapon feeds off the type of pass we can bracket off. They can afford stalled drives against the chargers. I would hope you’ll see them press for big plays against us which kind of feeds them into the teeth of how defenses want to play them.

I think Clay had posted before that the 49ers came the closest to the 3-peat.

Like 14-2 and NFCCG loss when they were going for it?

If I have that right, just going to the AFCCG means the Chiefs have had the greatest 3-year run in NFL history. They’d beat that 14-2 record and match the postseason run.

Going to the Super Bowl (not even winning it) means the Chiefs have hit the highest 3-year postseason mark of any franchise ever.

Yeah baby. Almost time to bump the threepeat watch thread.

Redskins @ 49ers, Divisional Playoffs. The last great game for Montana in SF!

Is this really "manipulating the matchup" or is it trying to create enough interest for eyeballs?

No matter what story line you are consuming bro, it doesn't amount to jack squat at about 7:30 EST. I'll be watching to see if the Texans "We are the Big Dogs" defense can slow Mahomes & Co. down enough to make it close.

chiefzilla1501 01-14-2025 12:50 PM

I honestly don’t think the media is taking the Texans all that seriously. They are saving up their chiefs hate and ball washing of other QBs for josh Allen or Lamar.
