49ers played approx 2 games past Thanksgiving with any relevance over the period of 03-10.

Sure there was some hate and ignorance. But poking fun at the situation worked too. They are insignificant to actual life games.

I liked Rodgers and did amateur scouting with a notepad plus the hours upon hours online and spent money on access to a scout site online.

If I'm not mistaken, Alex was among the highest rated QBs when blitzed. It was when he had pressure without a blitz that he seemed to do poorly.

Alex Smith needs to learn2snapcount better. Because if he had then that corner blitz would have been exposed and audibled out of or picked up.

While this is true (from this angle), we can also determine that A) Protection was adequate and B) Smith displayed poor footwork and pocket presence on a PC that likely included a built-in hot.

Looked like he read the D and wanted his receiver far right, and locked into him all the way. He fully committed to what I imagine must have been a 1-on-1 between CB and WR... possibly a deep out? If he saw the CB jump in front of the WR? Yeah, I'd rather he not throw that. (not at all saying it was a good-looking QB play there)

I'm going to have to find out when that play occurred, and then take a look and see if I can learn more from the DVR recording.

edit: nope.. no replay angle or down the field look. You can see the SS blitz in off the snap. The WR over there looked to be running a 10 yard in or hitch. You can see that the CB wasn't back-pedaling at all, so a hitch would have been disaster.. maybe the in also.

... but I guess the point is, yes.. that has been Alex's SOP at times in games where shit doesn't much matter. If he can live another play instead of forcing a risk pass? He generally will. Fans can hate it and be frustrated by it.. but they might find themselves more frustrated with the result of an INT.

From what I've seen in the preseason so far (admittedly small sample size), Smith tends to lock in on the right side of the field.
