I think it's possible but if you do that there's no point in playing the actual games. It's all just math at that point. Alabama had their chance to ensure a bid and they lost by double digits.

Also, Bama’s loss is better than Texas’s loss.

The interesting part is that Texas is Bama’s loss.

Bama has the best win of the two and the better loss.

I think the Committee picks Bama.

You could say the same thing about Texas losing to OU.

There's no "right" answer here. It's just who the committee thinks are the four best teams (and my guess is they go with Bama based on their track record with the SEC).

You have to talk about the elephant in the room bots. Alabama has made a name for itself with this game!

If Alabama’s loss is better, doesn’t that validate Texas’ case even more since that “quality loss” was to Texas?

As do I. They'll separate the H2H and look at the entire season of work.

You can't though, they played head to head on the same field. I mean I'd rather see Alabama but if you put two teams head to head and one beats the other and it means nothing, then the entire sport is pointless. The end. If Alabama gets in it has to be at Florida State or Michigan's expense.

It’s a circular argument, but I think that’s how the Committee justifies Bama over Texas.

I’d put Texas in personally.

It doesn't have to mean nothing. It's just not the sole determining factor. Nor should it be if the committee's job is to actually pick who they think the four best teams are.

Exactly. If Alabama gets in over Texas the whole system is a joke

FloridaMan88 12-02-2023 06:42 PM

A quality win > A quality loss.

Especially when that quality win was Texas going into Tuscaloosa and decisively beating Alabama.

Then why have a playoff? Why pit the teams head-to-head in a single game that determines the champion if a single game between two teams on the same field isn't the sole determining factor? The argument defeats the entire point of a playoff in the first place. Just have the committee name the best team, they're the champion, game over.

Or Alabama beating Georgia in a conference championship game, a school that had completely dominated the sport for two years?

So the better team is the one who lost by double digits to the other team? That's ridiculous. If that's true than as pointed out the games DO NOT MATTER.

Maybe? They played 3 months ago. They aren't getting judged solely on that game.
