FIRE BILL SELF!!

Did someone actually say that Self would be "in trouble" if they lose to Kentucky? Good grief, that's just stoopid.

Get a grip, people.

CoMoChief 01-24-2016 03:04 PM

They don't have a dominating big man in the paint. This is why past Self teams haven't been as good for the past 3-4 yrs (since Withey/Embiid). Teams were scared to drive into the paint and limited their looks from inside because KU had the necessary trees to block everything that came in their area and they could actually rebound. KU big men of recent teams have not been as good..not by any means, esp on defense. And there's not denying the fact that Danny Manning had a big time effect on the improvement of a lot of former KU big men. Losing Danny Manning hurt a lot more than many people realize.

I get what you're saying. The championship is all that matters to those who only care about winning a tourney that is built for upsets. But the level of constancy that KU has has for 25+ years is something no other school has had. I don't know how I'd handle a season like UK had not long ago......not making the tourney, them losing at home in the first round of the NIT to some bs school.

Not to mention the disastrous recruiting classes in the last couple years...including 2016.

You don't start the season to win the Super Bowl?

You don't start the season to win the World Series?

What makes CBB any different?

Trolling aside, I'm that way with the NFL, but not so much with college basketball... longer season, better regular season games, and a relatively unpredictable postseason... and well, it's harder to expect national championships with college kids.

Yeah, I'd rather not sacrifice an entire season for a NC with kids who aren't planning on sticking around.... if it was Kansas football, sure, suck for years, get a NC, then go back to sucking... but, there are too many good CBB games every year to exchange that for a couple extra wins and a tshirt.

I used to be like that but with NCs piling up for other schools every few years I've changed my opinion.

Nobody is going to care about a regular season win or loss against Kentucky two years from now. The conference championship streak is historic.

Pablo 01-24-2016 03:22 PM

Yeah I can't get behind this UK game being the biggest focal point for the season. Maybe if they were better than they are. Maybe.

I already don't care about it now. They're not that good this season. Winning against them at home will prove absolutely nothing.

Sorta agree, but what would losing prove?

That we're a soft and flawed team...which I think we kind of already know already. Home losses always really suck regardless. Basically, there's nothing to gain here.
